We have made a lot of signings this window!

I'm going to go back to the short Strachan era how many of these players came out of that period with any credibility or pushed on to better things ..

We were a club on the decline then after the firesale of Downing, Alves, Huth and Tuncay), I just hope some of these new lads aren't as instantly forgettable as a few players on this list that were brought in ...

Andrew Halliday, Kris Boyd, Nicky Bailey, Stephen McManus, Kevin Thomson, Tarmo Kink, Lee Miller, Barry Robson, Jay O'Shea, Willo Flood, Chris Killen, Scott McDonald, Mark Yeates (Southgate buy?), Isaiah Osbourne, Marcus Bent, Dave Kitson, Matthew Kilgallon, Kyle Naughton

That was a totally different situation. Strachan just bought players he knew without knowing or understanding the league they were going into. He underestimated the difference in quality (and so did we after years in the Premier League). That isn't what's happened here.

Plus, everyone seems to be overlooking that 2 players are backup goalkeepers and 3 players are for the youth team.

I don't know how many ways I can say this. A player not fitting in at a club, struggling to hit form or a manager pushing a player out doesn't mean the recruitment team did a bad job. All the recruitment team can do is identify talented players. Everything after that is down to the manager and the players.

The recruitment team found attributes in his game that would make him a good player and signed him relatively cheap. He was never an expensive signing for us, he only cost £500 - £750k more than Sam Morsey did. He hadn't performed but I don't think anyone ever called him expensive.

We spent less than £5 million that transfer window. And made more than double that by getting fees for Akpom, Morsey and Watmore. All three of those players played useful roles in the side on the time they were here as well. Clearly this was before we implemented our new recruitment team. But, they signed players who made an impact on the side and that returned more than double the cost of the overall transfer window when they moved on. I don't know what they would have to do for you to consider them having a successful window?
The recruitment team is meant to find players who will fit into whatever system the manager wants to play. Akpom wasn’t wanted by two managers and also went out on loan unsuccessfully twice. Ultimately we spend big on a striker who didn’t work so we tried everything to get rid of him. Thankfully he came good in the end for us but we very nearly let him go for nothing

He only went out on loan once and we didn't spend big either. He wasn't unsuccessful in his loan spell either. He had a fairly decent time there. We were trying to get a fee for him, then he took the chance he got to get back in the team.

Like I said, they signed a player with certain attributes (Warnock said he started to look like the player he thought he'd signed when he was playing last year) and he struggled at first. That doesn't mean they didn't find a good player - and that's their job.

Ridiculously early to be saying we have no chance of promotion. Pointless even looking at the table until 10 games in.
We had a genuine promotion push last season from a much worse position, no reason why we can't again.

I think the club would have shown more ambition if it had kept Akpom and added the likes of Latte Lath Engel and a few loan signings. But who knows. Maybe Carrick will coach the young lads that have come in and build a wonderful side. Lets see.

Unless you are really rubbish, it's generally easier adding a couple of players to an already promising/decent side. Unfortunately, most of our first eleven were loans, so we have had to re-invent the wheel so to speak. This is always harder, but Carrick is probably the best manager we have had for a while. If he manages to pull this off and mold a play-off or higher chasing team over the course of this season, all kudos to him and he really will have something about him.

Just a defensive midfielder to find maybe we could get a loanee from city again i here kalvin philips is available

We have no chance of promotion there you, go with one striker who is unproven at this level (but does look upto the task)

What happens when he loses form or gets injured is it time to turn to Matt Crooks again?

There are 6 teams with stronger squads than ours

Forss is a striker, Coburn is a striker, Greenwood and Rogers can play up front. Who did we have as a striker last season before Archer made his debut in nearly February?

Albeit after a very poor start, there is still a long way to go. Doesn't mean we just give up. As long as its mathematically possible, I'm sure we will be aiming for the play-offs. Certainly, expect us to still have a chance come February/March time.

or bringing in a player we think can benefit us.

He’ll definitely benefit us. But at the end of the season he’ll go back.

I just don’t see why we’ve gone down this road again when we were trying to move away from it?

In fairness there were more than 6 teams with a stronger squad than us last year who we finished above. WBA and Watford come to mind.

I don't think anyone said we weren't going to loan anyone. We had 5 or 6 last season, that's the difference

The squad is weaker than the one that finished last season, and that's the reality. That we've signed quite a few players is neither here nor there - we're not as good a side now, on paper at least, as the one that finished fourth last season. If we can make the playoffs again with this squad Carrick will have very much over achieved with what he has at his disposal. Much will depend on what he can get out of a group of players who largely have yet to prove themselves at this level.

we have lost 50 plus goals. I like the look of latte lath big lad has something about him, I see him doing reasonably well do I see him getting Chuba numbers? No way. Archer had a similiar record to Chuba in terms of goal ratio, he would have bagged about 25 over a full season. I like the look of silvera I do understand the criticism he gets he’s young raw has potential but I think he could come good. Rogers so far not impressed. Yes it’s early to judge but I think you’d have to be over optimistic to think the teams anywhere near as good as the last one. Rogers latthe and silvera are no archer Chuba and ramsey that’s the reality. Defensively we are no better or worse I don’t understand how anyone rates mcnair other than absolutely awful. Costs us points every season. We have some talent without doubt I don’t think we will do awful I think we will play nice stuff at times score some nice goals and flirt with the top 10 we will probably finish slap bang in mid table because the side simply isn’t on the same level as last season
