69 was particularly low. 75 is about par for getting into the play offsWhat's made it difficult this season is more teams are doing better than last season. Last season 69 points (which I think we're capable of getting) would get you into the playoffs, it won't this year.
Looking at the fixtures this should do it
H Plymouth Win
A Stoke Win
H Norwich Win
A QPR Win
A Birmingham Win
H Blackburn Win
A Southampton Lose
H Sheffield Wed Win
H Swansea Win
A Hull Win
A Ipswich Lose
H Leeds Lose
A Cardiff Win
H Watford Win
I am not sure many of them are on good runs, to be honest. From the last 6 games, Ipswich, Preston, Coventry and West Brom have only won 3 each. The only teams in good form at the moment is Leeds, Leicester and Hull.Seen nothing to suggest we wont finish where we are now.
We have taken 6 points off Leicester this season and 1 point of Rotherham. It sums up the season unfortunately.
Too many teams between us and the play offs and 3-4 of them on good runs currently and look capable of continuing.
Lets just hope we can get some sort of run together and finish the season with some consistency.
We play the game in hand next month. Before that, a win on Saturday leaves us no more than 8 points off 6th with that game still in hand.I am not sure many of them are on good runs, to be honest. The problem we have, at the moment is we can't string results together either. If we win our game in hand we are 7 points of the playoffs. If we won 4 or 5 on the bounce the picture would change radically. I am not sure we can do that. Of course the players will be trying to do exactly that.
We will likely fall short now, we do have Howson and Hackney out, for probably the season. I struggle to see us stringing the wins together, but......
Yeah, I wasn't disagreeing with your post, just that the teams above us are playing well. They are much like us, by and large. We play the game in hand next month. Before that, a win on Saturday leaves us no more than 8 points off 6th with that game still in hand.
As I said on another thread, we need to worry about ourselves for now and not other teams. Beat Plymouth and then move on to Stoke. If we can win 4 or 5 on the bounce, or win 4 and draw 2 of the next 6, that gap will close right up and it will all be to play for going into the final 8 games.
Obviously I'm very aware of how inconsistent we have been, but if we can get a settled side out over the next month with the likes of McGree, McNair, Lath, O'Brien and Azaz featuring regularly (and hopefully Isiah Jones soon) then IMO we are very capable of going on a winning streak.
and the 6 from leicester? Next half dozen games will reshape the leagueLosing to Preston ended all realistic hope.
Getting 1 point from 6 against Rotherham was where my genuine belief ended.
I just hope we have a good end to the season, so we can enjoy something.

Thats about the size of it TC.We'd have been better of losing to Leicester on Saturday and beating Rotherham twice.
We'd need to go on another 6 game+ winning streak just to get ourselves back in proper contention, and we've struggled to string 2 wins together for most of the season.

Leicester did a Boro and missed sitter after sitter in a game that they should have won on paper, their finishing let them down badly, we didn't play them off the park, we put in a decent backs to the wall away performance with a couple of counter attacks.
We're not going to be able to play that way against most teams.
