What’s your opinion on the fouls

The one on Grealish should of been a red the ones in the box would of been harsh penalties. Chiellinis pull back is correct by the rules as a yellow but for me it should be a red. Or if they ever bring in sin bins hat should be the type of foul it’s for any foul where their is no attempt to get the ball.

Jorginhos could have been a red. Think it was borderline so can see why VAR wouldn't overturn the yellow. But if the ref had initially given a red I don't think that would have been overturned either.

Chiellinis is an odd one. First instinct was its a shirt pull so a yellow. But then seeing it again and again, it's more violent than a standard shirt pull. If he'd put his hand round Sakas neck and thrown him to the floor, it'd be an obvious red so what's the difference?

Not sure either would have changed the final result mind.

Chiellini gets all this praise because he’s a billy big b***ks but I know his type. He’s an utter bully, the way he man handled Jordi Alba in the coin toss for the penalty shoot out in the semi and pretty much choking Saka. Mans a bully.

Bonucci on the other hand. Sublime player and a class act. Great penalty too

football as a whole has dropped to the level of theatrics and pantomime. Its not linked to a particular country, as they are all by and large as bad as each other, and its now seen as a way to garner a competitive advantage. I am sure some teams are even coached in the art.

The media and pundits are equally to blame with comments about "contact" and a player having every right to go down following a touch.

I am sure its a reason some folks become disenfranchised with the game and drift away due to the lack of spirit and integrity of all concerned.

I don't know why the one on Grealish wasn't reviewed by VAR? Other challenges in the tournament have been it was certainly worse than the one that got the Welsh lad sent off.

My only criticism of the ref last night was that he played the advantage sometimes when there was none. We had a freekick outside the box that he was about to give but allowed play to carry on although the ball was nearly back at halfway and no advantage was accrued. Oh and I don't know where he got 4 minutes added time from in the first half.

I think its about time the advantage laws were changed in line with Rugby Union, in that an advantage is played for a certain amount of time, or until its clear there has been no advantage, then play is brought back to the original incident and a free kick etc is awarded.

I think ice hockey plays advantage until the advantaged team scores, or the other team take possession, then play is brought back to the original foul.

The free kick on the edge of the box was a perfect example where a team should be able to say we want the free kick, screw the advantage.

I thought the tackle on Grealish was studs up and could have been a red. The stamp on the knee was accidental as his foot rolled off the ball. If he hasn't been studs up though it wouldn't have happened.

I don't think a red would have surprised anyone.

I thought sterling looked for a penalty a couple of times.

The one on Grealish was definitely a red, Chiellini's under usual circumstances is a yellow but the way he pulled him back was effectively the same as grabbing Saka by the neck.

I don't think the outcome would've been different though they would've shut up shop and taken it to penalties anyway

The Chiellini shirt pull was the one that annoyed me. Yes it was on halfway near the touchline but he made a mistake and Saka was free, noone was going to catch him.

Should have been treated as the last man.
It was cynical in the extreme and if I remember correctly a few years ago that would have been a red for a professional foul.

By todays rules it was just a yellow, wrongly in my eyes, but still just a yellow.

Cheillini isn't the first nor will he be the last to do that all defenders do that from time to time.

I remember a Boro game can’t remember who it was against but Emnes was pulled back by his dreadlocks clearly seen by the ref but never understood how that was only a yellow and not deemed serious foul play.

I think Jorginho's was 100% a red and if it wasn't in the final, it would have been given. I can't believe it didn't get a VAR check.

Chiellini's looked horrible but how do you measure the force of pulling someone's shirt when it comes to a sending off, tough one.

My wife watched the game with me last night. She had no interest in football. After the pullback she said to me "surely that can't be allowed?" I said no he will get a yellow card. My wife said "yeah but why is he still allowed to play?" I said because that's the rules. She said "stupid rules!"

This gets to me all the time. The way they come out stand in a line shake each others hands, with fair play flags and badges on the arms. but as soon as the whistle goes all that out of the window and so called "gamesman ship" (or we can call it what it is cheating).

Whats wrong with just hoofing the ball on to the pitch as you run out of the tunnel and cracking on with the game, instead of all this meaningless nonsense before the game

I thought the first one was a penalty and a proper VAR review would have seen Bonucci's knee clatter the back of Sterling's knee, causing his leg to collapse. Whether accidental or intentional, it was significant contact that could easily have been given. I suspect the furore over the penalty v the Danes has influenced the referee on that one, but surprised VAR didn't give it serious consideration. We didn't do enough to win it anyway and sitting back and defending for 85 minutes v the Italians was a poor tactical decision.

I thought the ref was poor. three times in the first half he told the italians no free kick after a dive roll around, but he didn't book them for simulation, so they kept on throwing themselves. He gave really odd decisions on free kicks, and non-free kicks no consistency in his decision making at all. big pull or push no free kick, tiny pull or push free kick?!

Chiellini is a proper old school Italian defender. By that I mean a nasty, sly cheat. I noticed he was always offering to help England players off the floor. I bet he grew his nails so he can dig them in to the players as he “helps” them up. The shirt pull was bad and it’s something that should be stamped out, that blatant cheating, but as it stands it’s a yellow and nothing more. The Jorginho one looked absolutely brutal on the replays. Nasty physical challenge. The ref was trying to let things go and make allowances so no surprise it was only a yellow

The first one I am thinking about was early on and I think it was outside the box. There was one you describe that I have seen given but also seen them waved away. The ref was too lenient generally I thought.

I don’t think he was too lenient to be fair. One of the main reasons I have stopped watching the game is the play acting and diving. With a ref less inclined to give free kicks hopefully it’ll lessen the impact of the diving
