What’s your opinion on the fouls

The none advantage free kick in extra time was just bizarre reffing.

Free kick on the edge of the box, great position or one player surrounded by blue shirts with backwards the only option? 🤷🏻‍♂️
Yeah I couldn't quite understand that. He could have let it go for a few seconds then pulled it back when no advantage presented itself.

The shirt pull is just a classic case of taking one for the team unfortunately, it happens every week and as frustrating as it is to be on the end of it, its a yellow and nothing more. Yes its not exactly the cleanest thing to do but what do you expect? Defender could do nothing else in that situation

The Grealish one looked an accident to me personally, if its intentional its a red but I dont think it was.

We can hardly moan about another side being dirty though, a number of our players have thrown themselves to the floor at every opportunity over the last few games, were just as bad

Thought the ref did well, he let a lot of stuff go as they have done all tournament, Jorginho was the only one where I think if it had been a red it wouldn’t have been a poor decision although probably unfortunate because his foot rolled off the ball onto Grealish’s leg.

England players go down just as easily as other countries now so I find it weird when fans criticise the cheating foreigners.

There was no malice in the Jorginho tackle and his foot deflects from the ball, so no intention of stamping on Grealish. As for Chiellini. It was cynical, but impossible to punish with anything other than a yellow. If you're Italian you'd have loved seeing him do that, as Saka could have been clear.

Definitely "accidental" but also endangering an opponent. He launches himself as the ball gets away from him, both feet off the ground with his studs showing towards Grealish. Not a definite red but would not have been overturned if given.

With offences like shirt pulling as blatant as that and other offences that are deliberate to break up play and the so called take one for the team tackles.

I think they should be straight reds, chiellini made no attempt to play the ball only intent on bringing his man down. That should not be allowed in the game.

Kalvin Phillips would have had 74 red cards this tournament if that was the case.

I agree mutley. Not malicious but dangerous. I don't think many would have complained at a straight red.

"Taking one for the team" yellow card tackles are what they are, but in this case Chiellini was essentially the last man, noone was catching Saka in the second half of extra time. He's one on one with the keeper otherwise so should be a red in my opinion.

Grealish one could have went either way.

I agree with going down to easy, Kane did it about 3 or 4 times and lost possession leading to attacks.

So be it. Would cut it out of the game and allow the attacking side of the game to prosper, instead of holding it up for to let opposition get back in shape.
I think it would make it dreadful to be honest, players are always going to make that kind of challenge.

We had 120 minutes to run at Italy and draw foul after foul from their dinosaur rearguard. It took us a hell of a long time to get Chiellini booked - because we sat back and stopped asking them questions. We failed to exploit their weakness. Had we done so then some of those 5 yellows could have been traded up to reds. They perfectly exploited our weakness.

That's true. I was fine with the switch to 3-4-3 but thought it was a risk playing Mason Mount in the front three. Sterling should have remained on the left and Sancho on the right. All easy to say the afterwards I suppose.

Yeah but he’s on the half way line on the touch line, if you start issuing red cards for fouls in that position it’s going to set a dangerous precedent

Not saying for all fouls I am saying in instances were there is no attempt to play the ball just stop his man in what is practically assault. Can miss time a tackle but there was only thing in his mind when he did that.

Not really, I can't think of many situations as blatant as that. Where it was on the pitch should be irrelevant, he was in effect the last man preventing a goal scoring opportunity. Saka would not have been caught.

There were other defenders towards the centre of the pitch with a shorter route to the box to make a tackle. As a ref you can't make a judgement based on the pace of a player.

It wasn't a dirty game last night, the ref did a good job but the players made it easy for him.
