What is a Woman

Well said. A bit of reason in a sea of anger.

For what it's worse, it's a serious issue and it's a shame we have to be so entrenched that we all take extreme views. I am 100% on board with trans rights, for example. But I'm less clear and more reactionary when it comes to trans people in sports. No matter how you dress it up the average man is physically bigger and stronger than the average woman. Which is why most sports have gander categories. Muddying these waters creates an uneven and potentially dangerous playing field.

But, in general life: I treat trans people as I treat CIS people. With respect unless they show me a reason not to. The fact some of the bigots cling on to an example set by a single rapist is disturbing. They are focusing on the "problen" that the person was trans? Surely the problem is the person was a rapist?
That last paragraph sums up my position. In some cases, admittedly not all, there is an undertone of one trans person is a rapist ergo all trans people are. It's simplistic thinking taken to a worrying extreme.

Honestly, I am just trying to understand how someone feels like they should be a different gender. If someone could give me an answer I would happily accept all of it.....
I'm confused as to why you keep asking the same question on a football message board.. the typical demographic of which will clearly be unable to give you a specific answer from personal experience.

I would recommend, as others have already mentioned, you speak to someone from the relevant community with personal experience and they may be able to enlighten you and you will then allow them to live their lives as they wish without random people questioning their existence.

You probably don't really want to know though do you.

Or maybe they really do want to know, in which case, I hope they find the support they need.

But surely the demographic is totally irrelevant?

They can live there lives however they want, but as highlighted in the film, they are not just living their lives are they.......

If only to stop you calling people 'Nutters' - a most offensive term to use.

Imagine that from the earliest you can remember you knew you were different. You wanted to play with toys that children of the other sex played with. You feel wrong in your clothes and the way you are stereotyped. Worse still you live in fear of being caught, ridiculed or beaten up; you quickly learn how to behave and live a fake life.

As you struggle through school you start to experience, with impending horror and disgust, the development of your body because it feels wrong. It may be a case that you never came out and the pressure of living a lie in your adult life becomes too much; the kids leave home and your situation becomes desperate.

Some people don’t have to imagine: this is their life journey.

Gender dysphoria is the tragically misunderstood ‘condition’ of being born with a gender that is the opposite of your physical sex; being a male born into a female’s body or vice versa. Once thought of as a social ‘choice’, it is now widely accepted to have biological origins rooted in the action of hormones during the crucial sex differentiation stages of foetal development.

Treatment may involve gender reassignment surgery, but there is much work to do before making any decisions about whether to move forward or to stay where you are and work on becoming more comfortable with yourself. For a start, gender dysphoria must be carefully diagnosed and other possibilities eliminated. If assimilation to your gender is desired then hormone therapy may be gradually introduced alongside counselling.

Due to the incredible bravery needed to seek treatment, or even to open up and talk about your situation, those who seek support via counselling or group therapy are sadly in a minority. The majority struggle with their feelings in isolation; we lose some to suicide and others stay quiet and suffer. It is the fortunate few who feel able to seek help.

Being homosexual is an action, changing your gender is physical changing your body because of how you 'feel'.....two totally different things.
I disagree. In the same we we can't decide who we are attracted to, we also can't decide what gender we feel more comfortable as. You are born that way. If you feel you're in the wrong gender then luckily you can address that these days. True, we'll always have backwards, possibly under educated people like yourself wanting to attack them. But as long as society moves on and leaves people like you behind then it's all good

People buying into this absolute horse**** while the planet literally burns and floods and becomes less habitable with every passing year. The UK has been looted, destroyed, ransacked and stripped and sold for parts and people are lapping up this batsh*t far-right nonsense like nobody’s business. Our media is like a poisonous gas that has polluted discourse to the point where nothing is actually real anymore. It’s depressing as f*ck.

Having seen what these people are put through to “transition” it looks barbaric. Men having to keep what is basically an open wound down there open for the rest of their lives, along with the infections and problems urinating that it brings. On the other side women transitioning to men and being left with something that is basically there for cosmetic purposes - it all just seems not worth it. I think they’d be better served having decent mental health support

I can not be bothered to read whats gone before, but I guess there will be lots of people not giving the answer thats in the dictionary and a few sticking up for the dictionary entry.

The key thing to remember is that however anyone identifies, they are a human being first and foremost and as a human being have the right to identify howsoever they wish in our forward looking country. We as fellow citizens, howsoever we personally identify should respect the position of the person themselves, man, woman, boy, girl or any other label in existence. Why does it matter, really anyway?

If I wish to associate with anyone, it is for their personality, not their look, their identity, I only draw the line at Leeds supporting creatures, anyone else could be a friend if they are decent human beings.

For the record, today I will be identifying as a walnut whip as I am hard on the outside with a soft centre, and a bit nutty up top

Do you need to understand?

I'm not particularly sure why you feel people need your acceptance to identify a certain way and make decisions about their own body.

That's if you're backwards enough to think being trans is a mental health problem

Because in America they are teaching it in schools, and I have kids so yes I need to understand!!
There is no one that can tell you trans people feel they way they do because of X Y and Z. It's not that prescriptive and people have many many individual reasons about why they identify the way they do.

As has been suggested to you before, you need to broaden your horizons a bit and look to different demographics and research than a Middlesbrough football board if you are genuinely interested and want to learn.
