What was really impressive last night our style

Let’s not kid ourselves the conditions last night were horrendous the pitch was heavy and the rain never let up throughout the whole game.

So in those conditions where mistakes and slips are common it’s normally a time to revert to a more direct approach hoof it long get it in the mixer etc.

But no not us, as despite the conditions and the pitch we stuck to our philosophy under carrick of pass and move of passing through the thirds to work the ball and create opportunities. Look to the flanks whip crosses in.

That was great to see and really impressive and shows what this teams DNA is and that we are a footballing side first and foremost.

Brilliant.

You can see what carrick is building. There are still a few moan and groans when we pass it back to Steffan from our half but more and more people understand that’s how we play now. Draw them out and hit them.

In the pub pre match we were expecting a cagey affair with maybe one goal in it due to the weather.

Erm 🫤 yes

Expected us to make more mistakes than we did with the heavy rain.

Really impressive performance.
Because of the conditions we were concentrating and seemed a lot more focussed and switched on than we have been for the previous couple of games.

As well as being a very good, stylish performance it was also a very professional one.

If he wasn’t still alive, Uncle Tony would be spinning in his grave. As it is, he will be merely just frothing at the mouth with disgust at Carrick's modernity and dreaming of what might have been, torturing the Premier League and its namby pamby, love smothered players with his his dynamic long ball and throw ins and his shiny white gleaming Hi-Tec trainers on the touchline at The Emirates. He will be shaking his head at Gibbo the next time they meet asking him how he has allowed this to happen in sight of the Transporter he held so dearly and to the people of Teesside he shared so much in common with.

Especially losing a key part of the game plan in Ramsey so early in and others having to pivot.
Yup, thought that would really affect us, but we had a 5-10 min wobbly spell where Norwich were on top but after this we were excellent. Hackneys best game for weeks and Mowatt - rediscovered his old Barnsley form.

Being able to cope with these setbacks as we did bodes well for the playoffs 👍

I’ve been impressed with how well we’ve been playing in the games leading up to this. We were the better footballing side against Huddersfield.. Warnock picked the lock, lifted our leg, picked our pockets. Burnley top of the league by a huge margin, a better squad than they had in the premier league.. they only looked slightly better than us and it took an offside goal to take the three points. Bristol City away is a tough fixture.. to come back from 2-0 is a mammoth task. We are solid gold.

As I mentioned last night, the only coverage I had was the Beeb website then the goals on the Sky website, but it did sound like we were ruthless.
Hopefully we have got that lethargy that set in after the international break out of our system and we'll go full pelt into the playoffs. Yep, you heard it right, even I think that wobble has finally done for the automatic chances.

I’m buzzing after last night 😃 we were clinical in front of goal.
That period before we scored though, let’s be honest with ourselves, Norwich should’ve had at least one (!) down to our slow start and their fast start.
Just a reality check and I think we would’ve got back into it but everything went our way last night.
Penalty not given as well.

When we are free flowing no one can live with us.
I think we will get a tougher test from hull on Wednesday and I’m concerned about Luton away because they will fly at us from the off, it’s their only chance of getting a good result from us.
My concern is we will be too brittle at the back like at : West Brom, Bristol, Huddersfield & Sunderland
If fry is back I’ll be happier but it’s going to take 2-3 games for him to be match sharp

Great result last night as I say and great for belief in what we are trying to do. So many positives like mowatt and Hackney on the left. Let’s hope Ramsey and forss and mcgree are ok for Wednesday 🙏🙏

Norwich were missing their best defenders. Sergeant could have had a first half hat trick. We are not perfect by any means. However, when get the ball and go forward, we have options all over, we attack spaces. We have pace and a goalscorers through out the team. I can’t believe I’ve just written that about our Boro.

Don’t want this season to end, love watching this team.
