What was really impressive last night our style

Norwich were missing their best defenders. Sergeant could have had a first half hat trick. We are not perfect by any means. However, when get the ball and go forward, we have options all over, we attack spaces. We have pace and a goalscorers through out the team. I can’t believe I’ve just written that about our Boro.

Don’t want this season to end, love watching this team.
It's really strange watching a Boro team with the "you score 3 we'll score 5" attitude. 😍

Jeeeeezzz, I still sometimes get Pulis PTSD and the Villa playoff games. Played 2, shots on target 0. 😖😖

The players going forward are just so slick not just the passing but the movement.

79 goals now in 42 games bye bye Big Jack's team of 1974, I think they only scored 77.

We were also very clinical with our chances with 8 shots in total, 6 on target resulting in 5 goals.

A big shout out to Steffen who usually takes a beating on here.
15 mins into the 2nd half last night our stats were:
Shots. 5
On target 5
Goals 5

Norwich, by that point, had one goal to show from their 9 shots

For that first hour our finishing was simply ruthless

What I have been so impressed with is the simplicity of it all.

Pass/move
Shorts passes pulling opposition players all over.
Balls to feet
The little first time balls
Good decision making
Patience - not afraid to go back to Steffen and recycle

Compare this to Pulis ball or Warnocks quick balls into the channels and chase, it's been a joy to watch.

We may have had more individual brilliance under Robson and McLaren but this is the best TEAM dynamic I've ever seen in my 35 years as a Boro fan👍

Coaching, coaching, coaching.

Confidence of the players must be sky high

What about fry

Or don’t our defence injuries count

Or mcgree

Etc

What impressed me last night (apart from the clinical finishing of course) was our energy in the second half, still closing them down in their half etc when we were 4 goals up.
On the way home, I said to my mate that it must have been a long time since we scored 5 goals or more ; Man City 8-1? Then he reminded me we beat Reading 5-0 last month!

I've been poorly all week but felt OK enough to go to the pub and watch the game-what a tonic that was-lifted me up no end and my aches and pains forgotten.
I can't remember when we last DIDN'T score in a game- any ideas?

You can see what carrick is building. There are still a few moan and groans when we pass it back to Steffan from our half but more and more people understand that’s how we play now. Draw them out and hit them.
Steffen is starting in the last few games to play quite a few long balls as well as his usual short passing game and so is mixing it up. Its working well and more difficult for opposition to predict our style of play

It probably sounds strange to say it, but I don't think it was a "5-1" performance.

We've been much better this season but the difference between the teams was the clinical finishing.

When Ramsey was substituted early through injury, the sigh of relief from the Norwich bench could be heard all around the Riverside. However, they didn't know what was in store for them. I thought Mowat had a fine game last night, and I don't often say that.

The team structure is so good you can replace players without significantly affecting the performance. (y)

If he wasn’t still alive, Uncle Tony would be spinning in his grave. As it is, he will be merely just frothing at the mouth with disgust at Carrick's modernity and dreaming of what might have been, torturing the Premier League and its namby pamby, love smothered players with his his dynamic long ball and throw ins and his shiny white gleaming Hi-Tec trainers on the touchline at The Emirates. He will be shaking his head at Gibbo the next time they meet asking him how he has allowed this to happen in sight of the Transporter he held so dearly and to the people of Teesside he shared so much in common with.

I'm sure if he's interviewed about us he'll be sure to point out that Steve brought him in to do a top to bottom review of the club and he basically is the main person responsible for where we are today.

Without selling Bamford and using the money to pay for George Saville and Jordan Hugill's £2m loan fee we'd probably be in league one right now.

Watching sheff utd now they are awful long balls into channels and simple crosses into danger areas. They are going to stink out the premier league

I think the reason for that stat is that we moved the ball so well and our movement was so good that we created clear chances. 2 tap ins. Hackney unmarked but a cracking finish. Archer 1 v 1.
