Who are we all wanting to see replaced in the summer?

There's not a single player I would be disappointed to see leave (for the right price). The problem is that I'm not sure I trust us to spend the money wisely enough that any replacements would be genuine upgrades.

I'd argue that RVDB is probably our best CH now already, so they 'can ' get it right..

Keep

Dieng - Glover
Smith - Ayling
VDB - Lenihan - Clarke
Engel - Bangura
Howson - Hackney - O'Brien
Forss - Jones
Azaz
McGree - Silvera
Lath

Dijksteel - Permanent departure
Fry - Permanent departure - Feel like a move is the best thing for both
Thomas - End of loan
McNair - End of contract
Barlaser - Not enough defensively for my liking
Greenwood - End of loan
Coburn - Needs a season out on loan in my oppinion.

Surprised at the number of people who think Coburn should go out on loan. In his appearances this season when fit, I think he has shown enough to warrant being a first team squad player. Not sure another loan is needed whilst we are still in the championship. However tempting it is to get rid of a load of players, it is a lot harder to get good players in, as we have seen this season (although Dieng, RVB and Rogers have been good).

Possibly true.
But it’s a sad time for Boro when apart from the player mentioned and our number 1 keeper and Paddy, I would not shed a tear for anyone else leaving.

Their thinking is. .. " The only time we were good this season = in spite of him .
And when he was obviously crocked , I'll judge him on that "

The Championship is simple, not easy.
You need a CF focal point, THATS how the goals get spread out

Put it this way, if Coburn was a Bristol Rovers player last season, do you think we would have been wanting to sign him last summer?

I don’t. Not because he’s not a decent player, I just don’t think he’s the style of centre forward we would be looking for.

I think Azaz will be a very good player for us next season in the number 10 role, with a decent striker Infront of him and some pace at the side of him he would be a stand out player for us next season. We need a quick left winger with some tricks up his sleeve and cover/competition for Jones on the right who brings A similar set of attributes(pace and trickery).
I also think we need A captain in the middle of the pitch and although Howson has been a great player for us we need a replacement more in the leadbitter mould who brings the passion and fires up the team(I prefer the captain to be a midfielder as they can communicate and organise all parts of the pitch).

I've no idea tbh ..
Didn't see him there, no idea how he was playing, how they played, or who he was playing with.

He'd probably fit a moneyball gamble for his wages / physicality and option to play another way though. ( See him and crooks )

Ashley Barnes stats last year were far from great with goals and assists .. he definitely helped them play though.

We are not really 'signing' him on what he did for Bristol Rovers in league one. It's based on what he did for us this year and his brief appearances the year before last. Not sure how another loan will really benefit him, when he could be doing a decent job for us. Maybe not first choice, but certainly an option. Although totally different players, I don't think he has done too badly when compared to Lath.

As has been covered already on other threads our stats with Coburn in the team are ridiculously good.

Not necessarily all down to him, but he offers something when fit that no-one else in the squad does.

Who knows what Carrick is thinking. He played Crooks up front a fair bit last season. Obviously Archer then comes in who is very different type of player. But Archer had Akpom playing as the 10 who did a lot of work holding the ball up. We don't really have that now.

It's not just about fitting the style it's also about finding the right combination of players who complement each other.

First XI
-----------------------Dieng-----------------------

Signing------Lenihan---------VDB------Signing

-----------Hackney-----------Signing------------

---Jones-------------Signing-----------McGree--

------------------------Signing---------------------

Second XI / rotation options

-----------------------Glover-----------------------

Smith---------Signing---------Clarke------Engel

-----------------Signing-----Barlaser------------

----Forss-------------Azaz------Bangura/Silvera--

--------------------Coburn/Lath--------------------

To leave:
Greenwood (although for £1.5 million I might be tempted)
O'Brien (unless he improves)
Ayling (old and shyté)
Thomas (expected way more, looks lost)
Dijksteel (never fancied, often injured)
Fry (never does enough for me, got all the attributes, doesn't seem to have the ruthlessness or desire, a new challenge as a more orthodox champo CB might see him flourish)
McNair (probably too much wage, never really cemented a place)
Howson (too old to be counted on, he's not getting better, poor captain, not athletic or physically imposing enough in a lot of games)
Gilbert (waste of money / squad place)
Hoppe (waste of money / squad place)
Bilongo (can't see him making it at our level)

Edit: I should say that this is with a 'going for it' season in mind, if we want a strong push for upper play-offs, outside chance of autos type scenario.

If we want similar to this season, like an about 8th and maybe sneak the play offs scenario with a bit of luck on form and injuries, probably a much less drastic overhaul needed.

I feel there's a bit of a malaise mentally around the squad when we're not steam rolling teams. We lack fight, belief, niggle and a bit of shîthousêry. We lack leaders and a vocal organiser. For that reason I would happily move on McNair, Howson and Fry. A fresh start with a few more experienced, champo toughened campaigners at fullback and defensive centre mid would transform us I feel (as long as they're of sufficient quality and athleticism to implement Carrick-ball obviously).

The finishing touch would be an affordable version of Archer and Akpom (or who knows, the real deal!) to not only carry much more goal threat, but crucially hold up the ball and occupy defenders, creating time and space to allow us to play how we want to.

Based on absolutely nothing, McGree might end up joining his mates at St Pauli if they keep their form up and get into the Bundesliga next season.

Why would you loan him out if this is your view?

Starmer (if elected) and Gibbo.
In regards to Gibbo. I don’t have a huge problem with him. EarlyBirdGate has been a bit of a misstep but I do think he has the best interests of the club at heart. I would like to see some additional investment though. Maybe that could be similar to what Palace have with Steve Parish running the club, but some richer investors who actually own most of it. I’d even be happy to bring in a company like Red Bull on a minority share which would improve our networking.
