Who is the worst courier service and why is it Evri?

Our Evri delivery driver is quality and goes out of her way to make sure the parcel is delivered. I do think I have been lucky with this company and never really had any real issues (touch wood) with them.
It definitely depends who your local driver is. I used to go to school with the daughter of my Evri driver and she always makes an effort to ask how we are etc.

It's not just Evri, it is all of them, and they are getting worse.

I was waiting on a golf club being delivered by DPD, on the delivery day the tracking showed it was in Bristol, which is similar to Billingham in that it begins with a B.

Last Thursday I sent a golf club to a guy Parcelforce 24, Friday, the day it should have been delivered turns out to be the day Parcelforce handed his postcode area over to Royal Mail, it wasn't delivered due to issues with the address. The address as it turned out was perfectly correct.

At that point the parcel goes AWOL as the tracking stops. Parcelforce just keep on saying it's in the depot but not which one. Royal Mail won't even talk to me because it's a Parcelforce tracking number. It turns out after numerous phone calls it is in the recipient's local sorting office.

I've contacted him with three options, but he's stopped talking to me.

Royal Mail are getting worse, so much so I am considering using Evri.
Our local Parcelforce driver knows the family well and will often bring parcels back to one of us on his way home. I am sure he would be sacked if they knew.

He had once ordered some tools online and had put the delivery address at one place and then changed my mind and thought I had changed it to my home address. He knocked on our door and said "If I didn't know you, you wouldn't have got that". The address had my initial, surname and Normanby on it, nothing else.

Royal Mail though have changed how they deliver and you cannot go to the depot anymore to collect parcels if you are not in. They will offer you another day of their choosing and try and redeliver.

UPS. Was about to go out. Knock on door. Opened the door in like 3 seconds. Nobody there. Looked round the corner like 10 feet from my door. He was getting into his van. He must have knocked then ran off???

They will also deliver to a sub post office - I did that a couple of weeks ago when I was away up north for a few days.

Mind I suppose I’m lucky in that we’ve still got a sub Post Office….

Yodel are awful, really really incompetent
I think it depends on the driver. The girl who delivers for yodel where we live is great and never had a problem. Same with Evri, but these companies on the whole are terrible.

I've had a nightmare with FedEx this last week. Something I paid next day delivery for wasn't even out for delivery for 5 days, and then they lost the parcel, and when it was eventually delivered, it was delivered to the same number house, on a completely different street. All in all it took 9 days for a next day delivery.

I do hear this a lot so there must be something in it. But much like my experience of Ryanair, I hear them slagged off something rotten but have only ever had good experiences.
Strict aviation regulations prevent them from cutting corners, apart from customer service. O'Leary would do it if he could though.

I've he he genuinely never had any issues with them. We are a local lady who appears to do the same route everytime. I've never had anything lost or turn up late. I've never posted anything through them.

Yodal (or Nodal) are the worst. I won't purchase anything off anyone who uses them on ebay. I've only ever had two experiences and both a nightmare trying to get a redelivery after I'd not been in.

I guess it's all down to actual experience. The best in my experience is dpd. A great app that keeps you up to date as to where your delivery is. You can even contact the driver. Also a 2hr delivery window. I once had one sit outside my gaff for 5mins as he was early for the two hour window. I imagine it was well frustrating for him.

Our Evri delivery team are a retired couple and they are really good. If we have any problems, it’s usually with Yodel.

Last winter I ordered a laptop online. I was home all day that it was due to be delivered , no sign of the parcel. No ring on the doorbell all day.

That evening it was absolutely tipping down with rain. I log into my emails to see whether there was anything about my missing parcel, and there was an email saying that it had been delivered. I check my porch - no parcel, no card saying that it has been left with a neighbour or left behind the bin etc.

Next day, when leaving the house I spot a disintegrating sodden cardboard box underneath a small bush in my garden. Yay - my laptop did arrive yesterday after all.

Thankfully the seller had wrapped it completely in bubble wrap. Otherwise the thing would be been completely ruined.

Yodel IIRC.
