Can't see "the VAR being a Luton fan" having much bearing; if he was then surely he'd most likely have wanted a draw as it keeps 2 sides within arms' reach instead of most likely just 1, with a potential point of the 3 possible gained collectively disappearing?

Of course he could have just been $hite at his job if they were stonewall penalties (have to confess I haven't seen the shouts) but him being a Luton fan should mean bu&&er all in reality.
 
Not seen the incidents though I believe they asked - prior to the game - for Luton fan Stuart Atwell to be replaced as VAR official, that would seem an obvious & reasonable request, indeed an oversight by those in charge not to have foreseen & actioned..
