Who's coming down from the Prem?

Burnley would have had a fighting chance if not for this Brighton equaliser yesterday...

I think it'll be Luton that go down with them, but I hope it's Forest, they deserve to after their idiocy.
That buffoon of a Burnley keeper Muric not only blew their chances with that error but worse the previous week when he gifted Everton 2 points which effectively may keep them up.

What if they go into administration and EFL deduct 12 points off them?
That's a great point. It's not out of the question. They owe more than 500m to three third party lenders apparently. Each of those lenders will expect to be top of the queue. That's a really bad scenario because one of them could call in debt upon relegation, to usurp the other two. If it was a single lender they wouldn't have anyone to play off against.

I wouldn't be surprised if relegation saw a Leeds type firesale and a mothballing of the new stadium for 12 months or more

Their financial statements for the last 3 years are horrific:

20-21 loss of £121m
21-22 loss of £45m
22-23 loss of £89m

£254m losses in the 3 years. That alone should lead to a penalty on the start of next year regardless which division they are in. I know it's not all "football loss", but the sheer scale of it means there must be a breach. Squad is clearly stacked from a champo point of view, but Pickford, Onana, Branthwaite would be cherry picked. They really shouldn't be allowed to spend until they bring their 3 year losses back to within allowable losses.

Did the second points deduction give relegated clubs a chance to rethink their decision not to sue for the £300m they might have lost due to loss of income due to being cheated?

If it was Boro I'd have been really disappointed if they'd chose not to sue like those clubs did

Sell the new stadium to pay off the debts. If it doesn't cover them there's always liquidation

Everton have to to play Forest, Luton and Sheffield Utd
Then
If all else fails, appeal their 2 point deduction.

In some respects I’d like that to happen.
It will be an absolute farce for the Prem and potentially relegated sides.
And, it probably needs to happen to make sure the idiotic nonsense doesn’t isn’t repeated.

Best league in the world? Not for the administrators

Wasn't it the Everton chairman Carter who insisted we pay all our debts in full, when teams before us payed a small percentage.

I think I would almost prefer Luton to stay up over Everton & Forest as they've broke no rules:ROFLMAO:.

I rememeber thinking Luton have started performing a lot better when Everton's first point deduction kicked in.

Everton are in so much trouble if they go down.

I think this weekend's matches could be decisive.

Sheffield United v Burnley- if that ends in a draw, they're both definitely going down.

Luton v Brentford - Brentford win and they should be fine, Luton get something and they have a real fighting chance of staying up, assuming appeals don't work

Everton v Nottingham Forest - the biggest match of the weekend, both will be terrified to lose.

If you forget the penalty points, that table tells you how massive the gulf from top of the championship to bottom of the prem is.

Don't like Luton so no preference of them staying up over Everton - on the flip side got no care if Everton got liquidated

Forest cheated too - so not sure why the Everton-haters don't want them both to go down

Just eating the popcorn....

This season.

That was last season
The season before that had one of the newly promoted teams clear too.
So at this point last season, the bottom of the clubs to drop were a point worse off than Luton (3rd bottom this time and a good bit clear of Burnley beneath them) The other 2 were 4 and 5 points better off than Luton, respectively.

I know I'm like a scratched record, but it's perhaps no surprise that 4 clubs could break the 90 point barrier this season, considering the strength that came into the champo for the campaign.

I guess on the plus side, if we were going to pick a season to have as our transition one between last season, this one and the 24/25 season, this is the one to have considering that we could have gotten 90-91 points and quite possibly still not gone up.🤔
