Why does John Foster insist on blasting out 'Freed from Desire' literally a second after the referee blows for FT?

It's my one major issue with match day now. No issue with them playing the song I just think it doesn't need to be straight after the whistle. Give the fans time to sing then put it on a few minutes after. That way it would probably draw out the atmosphere more. Where as the way he does it by the time the song's finished everyone is heading for the exits. Also it seems to take forever to get to the chorus. Can he not just play the bit everyone sings along to.

Also noticed that by the time it's finished the players are heading off down the tunnel. Rarely get them walking up to the North Stand anymore

For me it kills the atmosphere but then I'm a miserable git in my 40s. The kids all seem to love it

It isn't so much the song, it is how fast it is played after the final whistle .
Give it a few minutes for the natural celebrations to finish.

Exactly this, give the fans a minute to clap and maybe start a song ourselves.

Football fans are good at creating an atmosphere ourselves, it doesn't have to be like the NFL where music is blasted through the tannnoy the second that play stops.

It just feels like its forced on us.

But many fans loved the fact it was played straight away - it was the timing of it that they liked. And also we all stayed behind where I was to wait for the players to make their way right around the ground from South to North to take our applause. We were the last out of the ground - as usual - celebrating into the night.

Music is pumped out at ear-splitting volume to control the crowd. There’s nothing more to it than that. There has been studies on this. It’s why modem stadiums are built and shaped the way they are and why loud music is now commonplace at almost every stadium - certainly in the top two divisions. It’s pure crowd control.

As soon as the music comes on, that spontaneity - and potential uncertainty - is under control and the crowd can be herded towards something far less dangerous than applauding and serenading a victorious football team.

As I said many like it, including my kids. I'd just prefer a more natural celebration. The games under Wilder last season with the players all together in front of the South Stand singing "Wilder says" were brilliant.

Yes, this is what I'd like us to go back to.

Start the Carrick chant, or whatever other chant at the time of FT.

Then if need be after a minute or two, blast the music out.

A moment in time!
True but it was a moment in time that wouldn't have happened if "Freed From Desire" had been belting out 1sec after the full time whistle.

I'm not suggesting we re-create that song, but that we give the fans the chance to create something else new and unique

I like it, its a bouncy song that the full ground gets into but i do agree the timing, maybe give it 2,3 minutes for natural celebrations to end and then blast that and get the 2nd round going.

Its the footballing version of Sweet Caroline at Boxing.

Picked up its fame from Northern Ireland and Will Grigg at the Euros in 2016

It kills the atmosphere at FT.

Noticed it for a few games now. The crowd seems to want to celebrate the win and yet he ruins the chants/celebrations by doing this.

I wonder if it's worth against Coventry not doing this, to see what the atmosphere is like, ready before the PO's.

If we won the PO semi-final tie at home after the 2nd leg, I can imagine the whole stadium would be bouncing and we wouldn't need 'Freed from Desire' being blasted at a 1,000 decibels.
It’s the new Sweet Caroline. An improvement, but we could still do without.

Sporting venues seem to think fans need their hands holding these days. “Come on guys! Sing along to this one!”
