Wilder favourite for Burnley???

You can basically discount any bookie odds for any managerial position, there is absolutely no insight in them whatsoever and the initial favourites are almost never the actual manager.

Rooney is second favourite and he's busy taking Derby down.
Absolutely no chance whatsoever is he being appointed by Burnley to try and keep them up in a tougher league.
Yeah spot on.

This is so clearly a list they’ve pulled out of their ****. Michael Duff fourth favourite because he once played for Burnley and as if Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is in any way a good fit for Burnley’s squad and position.

It’s only missing Steve Bruce and Mark Hughes as the generic list of people who are linked with everything.

It’s pin the tail on the donkey at first, unless someone has clearly been lined up behind the scenes.

Zidane has more of chance taking the Burnley job than Wilder. seriously though it’s hard to fathom why at this stage of the season Dyche has been dumped— can only be disagreement or something along those lines. I can only see a like for like in replacing Dyche so perhaps Pulis or maybe Ranieri (lol) might steer the club until the end of the season.

plenty of Boro fans believe its OK to go and take a manager from another club - so why would it be any different for Burnley ?

for what its worth, i dont think he will go to burnley - and that burnley should look for a football manager that is already not attached to a football club.

theres an out of work manager who fits the bill exactly, he is called Sean Dyche - he dont need the money though, cos he signed a very big and lucrative deal just last season, so may prefer to spend a little more time in his garden.

Rooneys stock is high, he’s done a great job at derby this season in the circumstances

I can't believe they are seriously considering Ole. You wouldn't want him at the wheel😂

You look at the majority of the candidates and who's better than Dyche? More so who'd have a better chance of getting them promoted next season? Just absolutely madness to sack him with 8 to go.

Do it at Xmas if they were going to do it. That or the summer.

Unfortunately we now have an actual good manager who has a very good reputation. So he will be linked with jobs. This will happen next season if he's successful with us and jobs come up and lower end prem clubs.

I think he definitely thinks he's unfinished business and was harshly treated by Sheff UTD. Also struggled to get back into the game after one covid related season 'disaster'.

That said who the f*ck would see Burnley as a good move? I just don't see it. We have a better ground and fanbase. You create something special at Boro its going to be better than at Burnley. Just look at the cup runs and away support.

I don't mind him linked with Jobs. He's a very good manager and the first one we've had in years. I could maybe 'get it' if it was the Everton job or something. Going to Burnley for an away day is more than enough of that place 😂

Bookies are there to make money - those down the pecking order will attract the money from punters >>>>>

If Chris is the principled man we`ve come to believe in, there is no way he would jump ship. If he did, he would lose his integrity and dignity from within the game and from the fans. [Not that that makes much difference these days].

Hes not another Karanka / Monk / Rowett / Allardyce type - who skips from club-to-club like a butterfly.

Remember what he said when he joined Boro: "It had to be the right fit".

On the actual football pitch, he's done an okay job at Derby in very difficult circumstances.
Off the pitch, he conducted himself brilliantly and is a credit to himself.

I'm not going to try and discredit how hard it must have been to keep everyone, including himself, motivated, but 17th without the deduction isn't anything to shout about.
Even giving him the benefit of the doubt this year with the squad issues and turmoil, they finished 21st last season (would have been 19th just from the 35 games he was in charge for) and had to rely on Cardiff equalising in the 88th minute on the last day to stay up.

Burnley would be crazy to go for him to try and keep them in the Premier League.

I have to disagree, they we’re struggling for a squad before the season. 17th would have been a fantastic season given the circumstances.

Much better than lampards 6th

I think it's overselling it, personally.

But there was nothing impressive about Lampard's 6th, so I wouldn't disagree on that.

I suppose we've also got to wait till the end of the season anyway, for a long period it looked like he might actually pull off the impossible and keep them up and that looks certain not to happen now, but the final league position isn't decided yet.

Even if Wilder was open to moving on i doubt he'd go to Burnley after his experience with SU owners. I think he appreciates the relationship he has with the hierarchy at Boro.

Maybe nerves are getting the better of me here but I've just read his reply to the Gazette's question to him about this and it was a hardly convincing answer, was it? I might be reading too much into it but he seemed a bit agitated after yesterday's game so maybe it wasn't the best time to be asked about it, BUT... just say you're staying mate. "Burnley? No. Good club, Dyche is a great manager, done a great job, a pal, but I'm Boro manager and I'm staying at Boro." "I'm not going to say anything on that," doesn't quite have the same ring to it IMO.

I'm just a bit concerned about where it's come from because if we lose him it'll be a huge, huge blow to us. He's the best thing to happen to the club in years.

I don’t think he will go, don’t think he would do that but I agree he didn’t exactly bat it away.

TBF maybe it caught him off guard and he's not one to speak of other clubs when they've just sacked a manager. We still don't know him well enough to know how he deals with this sort of thing when asked about it really, especially right after we've just had a really hard draw at one of the best teams in the league and we have to get back up north and straight into another really big game. Maybe Dyche is his mate and he wants to stay out of it, thinks speaking about it is disrespectful, etc. I just wanted to hear a "no chance, I'm staying at Boro" TBH.

I don’t really see how leaving Boro for Burnley whilst in the same division is ever an option even for a neutral unless your getting paid more cash

Wasn’t exactly a firm and definitive no. I trust that he likes it here and what we’re trying to achieve though.
