There's far more to it than that. Akpom' interview yesterday confirmed that Warnock didn't play with any clear tactics at all, where as Carrick works on tactics constantly. Playing a role is one thing, but playing for tactically astute manager isn't for everyone.When he first got into the team under Warnock he wasn't playing as a wing back. He's always played further forward. Wilder put him in the wing back position to fit into his tactics and to be fair to the lad he adapted really well and added the defensive side of things to his game. Based on that I think we wouldn't need to worry about him not being able to grasp Carrick's tactics.
