Will Isaiah reach his potential at boro?

When he first got into the team under Warnock he wasn't playing as a wing back. He's always played further forward. Wilder put him in the wing back position to fit into his tactics and to be fair to the lad he adapted really well and added the defensive side of things to his game. Based on that I think we wouldn't need to worry about him not being able to grasp Carrick's tactics.
There's far more to it than that. Akpom' interview yesterday confirmed that Warnock didn't play with any clear tactics at all, where as Carrick works on tactics constantly. Playing a role is one thing, but playing for tactically astute manager isn't for everyone.

I think this season is going to be make or break for Jones in the same fashion it was for Djed Spence when he went to forest.

I’m behind him and really hope he can kick on this year, we have a lot of pace in those forward positions.

If he can improve his passing and crossing we could be onto a winner.

He was player of the season at a Championship club two seasons ago. It's hard to see how a league two at best player does that.
Based on a two month purple patch that he hasn’t done before or since. Wasn’t Danny Cademarteri once up for premier league young player of the year. I rest my case.

Form is temporary class is permanent.

Isaiah seems to be a thoroughly decent human being and I hope he's class this year but even when people were trying to big him up on his return last season "Oh he's looking much better, been bright" it contributed 0 goals and he always looked like he was about to mess up a pass or not trap the ball when passed to him.

He stunk the place out at times last season, hopefully that is behind him now and he can kick on.

I think Carrick will give him until January, if he doesn’t perform I could see him leaving on loan or permanently.

Can't believe you've bumped your own thread in which you slagged him off regularly to say you're behind him.

Even funnier that you then almost immediately slate him again and say you can see him being sold in January.

😂

Well I’m not going to start a new one am I, you’re selecting tiny bits of what I actually said.

I am behind him and want him to do well for boro.

Apart from a brief spell under wilder he hasn’t done it but I’m hopeful carrick can turn it around.

Was only yesterday you were saying your nana can cross the ball better. You’re hardly behind him.

Did you see the cross? It was woeful.

This has to be the least supportive, supportive thread ever.

Credit for the chutzpah in hoofing your own car crash though

We can tell...
I want what’s best for MFC, a firing Isaiah jones would be great even though it is unlikely. I want the lad to do well but me wanting it doesn’t mean it will happen.

I did. It wasn’t a great cross, but he did some encouraging things like winning the ball back for us in good positions and provided an outlet. He can be good for us and showed in flashes when he got his chance towards the end of last season he still can do it. I’m expecting a good season from him.

I hope you’re right we all want the same thing.

It’s now documented why jones hasn’t been his best

New low from sexpom raising his thread again so he can stick it to jones again
If I’ve said anything non football related please show me?

It is perfectly acceptable to discuss a players ability on a Middlesbrough football club forum.

Bit unfair to say Sexpom is disrespecting Jones’s off field issues. I’m sure we all feel for the problems he faced, and we all accept it was negative to his football, but that doesn’t mean that 8 week period where he got a bunch of assists is the norm for Jones. Prior to that and post that he was poor.

Like Sexpom I’d love to be wrong, but for me, I haven’t seen him consistently perform at a level that is good enough for our ambition. He’ll have his moments, but not enough for me.
