Worst Boro player you've ever seen?

I think most if not all I've seen did what they could, I've seen way to many to mention who weren't much cop.
Worst player in how they left the club who let us down and thought of themselves, that does limit it.
Two top class players spring to mind, Souness and Beagrie, there are a few others of course, Ziege or Yakubu another 2 who were very good players.

Emerson takes the cake for thar prize. Add Barmby and Downing to that list

The period from 2009 to 2014 when we seemed to be like a holding pen for below average cloggers was painful to watch. During the Mowbray 'It is what it is' period we seemed to have a new team of spare parts and cast offs every month, to the point where Rhys Williams was the focal point of the team.

Scott McDonald ffs

I guess anyone who thinks Scott McDonald is the worst player they've ever seen, never got to watch Andy Crawford!

Didn’t say he the worst ive seen. I replied to the very valid point of the dross we had in that time. Literally pound for pound McDonald was poor. Never saw any spirit from him myself like

Sean St Ledger was as p!ss poor a defensive CB as I've seen.

Marcus Bent - one last payday
Guedioura - seemed to put it into Row Z from 30 yards every time he touched it.

Phil Whelan ................... shocking

A few years ago I was having this discussion with a bloke at work and he said George Kinnell (never saw him play myself). He reckoned the chant at Ayresome was .................. "Oh we paid 20,000 for Kinnell, fu-kin-ell, Oh we paid 20,000 for Kinnell, fu-kin-ell ........................." :D

I think you can make an argument about him not being value for money, but that’s not really his fault,I don’t know what his wages were but I’d guess quite significant. But £3.5m for a 1 in 3 striker even back then isn’t extortionate.

As for spirit, he never seemed to shut up and was always on at team mates. Whether it was constructive you’d have to ask the players. I’m sure he fought back into favour under Mowbray so I personally think he had quite a bit of spirit. It’s all about opinions though!

Mick Saxby
Andy Crawford
Mitch Cook
John Brownlie (TBF he was finished when we had him)
Martin Russell
Pat Heard
Mick Buckley
Paul Ward
Don O'Riordan

The younger folks would have been apoplectic if they'd seen this lot.
Maybe unfair of me, but at the time needs must. We were broke and had to bring in who we could. It truly was a desperate time.

Nicky Bailey is one of the worst players I have seen but seem to be loved by many. He is an average non league standard player, people loved him cos he flew into a tackle but so unfit and could barely run and technically woeful. Never took to him at all. He’s not the answer to this thread though but just thought I would throw him in the mix
He was bald and flew into tackles, deep down its what a lot of fans want. Looks like you could go for a pint with him etc.

That said I don't think he was as bad as you say.
