Would you travel on a 737 Max?

Thanks for adding another fear into the mix there mate 😱

So, before travel ensure the following at check in desk
1. The plane is not a Boeing 737 Max
2. The plane doesn’t have GE90 engines
3. Enquire whether the plane has been stored for long
4. If a Boeing 777 ask if they could do a quick carbon dump check
5. Ask to check if the pilot and his crew are up to date on training with MCAS flaws

The check in desk will love me

Furthermore, I was not reassured to read this ......... "In parallel, and at our insistence, Boeing has also committed to work to enhance the aircraft still further in the medium term, in order to reach an even higher level of safety." So basically they are saying they feel the aircraft can be made safer than it is currently, that’s reassuring !!! I think TUI are the only UK operator of this plane at present, but others have them on order. I am glad I don’t live near an airport

Anyway as I have said previously, flying is inherently very safe, it’s not flying people should be worried about, it's crashing.
You should add

6. Check the pilot is sober and looks over 18

I’m watching the netflix do c on the max and some of the details that really happened are frankly incredible the plane had a fatal flaw in its new system that over ride the pilot that basically flew it into the ground and the pilots didn’t even know it was even on the plane.

THE MCAS system.

If I recall correctly didn’t Ryanair buy a $hit load of these at rock bottom prices from Boeing after they were grounded?

Prob as They sold 5,000 units

Boeing own records say that MCAS has a 10 sec reaction time - before the flaw is catastrophic.

10 seconds

I hear they’re especially good for those people who get hyper when setting off on their holibobs, you know the type, they soon bring them back down to Earth with a bump.

Very good documentary that and really unusual to hear such high level views as well. Inc the the senators at the hearings

Boeing refused to take part at first but eventually sent a statement to be added.

Scary to think that they could this.

I watched the documentary and it is unbelievably scary.

The thing is, would you know what aircraft you are flying in before you get to the steps of the plane and by then if you want to back out you lose your money.
All passengers should be informed on booking which aircraft type they will fly in really given these absolute catastrophes around the world and although they have seemingly done a ‘fix’ on MCAS really, this 737 Max should’ve been taken out of the market place but money talks !!!
Which is a modern day disgrace

You make a good point and the answer is prob no as yes you’ll know the make and design on apps etc but not the exact model prob would say 737 but maybe not 737 max etc as the others versions don’t have MCAS as they have standard engines.

It was scary how clandestine they were wasn’t it and so brazen in their internal emails. It reminded me of the sackler family during the oxicoton scandal.

I’ve just checked my upcoming flights and does give model type as well but only if click additional info.

Just taken the in-laws to Mallorca. Flew back into MME on a 737Max. Only knew it was this version as I saw one of the screens used by the cabin staff. Usual safety card did not advertise it was this variant. Fortunately, I’m not a nervous flyer.

Ah really that’s interesting so they are still down playing it then., btw it’s not about being a nervous flyer though it’s a plane that had a catastrophic flaw so it’s not about phobia etc.

Btw Boeing paid out 2.5 bn on this issue

I’m not sure if it was deliberate, but they certainly kept it quiet. For those not sure:
IT WAS A TUI FLIGHT.

It was deliberate though as they knew revealing meant pilot training was req.

A you mean the safety sheet maybe maybe not as it had got a shocking name and was a PR nightmare so I wouldn’t rule it out.

It’s disgraceful. Utterly

Another example of how we (public around the world) are treated by holiday companies with contempt.

I’m actually going to write to Jet2 and ask them the question about if they have 737s in their fleet and if there is any possibility of one being assigned to our flight on the date we fly.
I’ll let this post know there response.
