Don't remember idolising players as a kid, but late teens/early 20s we're talking Stojkovic, Maldini, Davids and the absolute greatest of the lot, Gheorge Phucking Hagi.

Still my favourite footballer ever.
 
Gordon Hill for me at 9 years old. Loved all the boro players but Gordon hill and actually Steve heighway
I just loved the jinking skills down the wing…..

Something special about an old style winger, I went for George Best but also loved watching Eddie Gray one of the finest left sided players Iv'e seen.
 
Tony Mowbray for me. He used to go to Junior Reds in Redcar every Thursday night without fail and join in playing football with about 40 kids!!

Marco Van Basten - unbelievable striker, shame his career was cut short. Destroyed England in 88 Euros.

It has to be Heine Otto and then outside of the Club Michel Platani, the 82 WC Semi F with France v West Germany has to be my 1st game where I realised that I just watched a Special game and would be remembered as that.
