Mackem Delusion

Hate to say it….

Sunderland Population - 345,000
Average Home Attendance - 37,956
Percentage - 11%

Middlesbrough Population - 392,000
Average Home Attendance - 25,468
Percentage - 6.5%

We have the means in the town and the potential for 40k games… but how do you get there….

I’d start by sacking off Pig Bag and having some thing like Infant Hercules by Cattle and Cane for when we run out…. :p
Hang on Sunderland population ??? They are the only league club in County Durham so more like 500,000 surely.

In County Durham, the population size has increased by 1.7%, from around 513,200 in 2011 to 522,100 in 2021

What?

The latest cencus shows the population of Sunderland is 274,000. The population of Middlesbrough is that same cencus (2021) is 143,000.

Yeh I just used it a comparison, I wouldn’t know where to draw the boundaries, I Imagine Country Durham has a lot of Geordies… which is why I didn’t include… Stockton, Billingham, Thornaby, Redcar, Guisborough etc

But if we need to re-adjust the stats into Boros favor… I’ll compare Easterside population with County Durham… to swing the result and make sure we win :p

Not that it matters, with attendances meaning absolutely **** all in the grand scheme of things, especially in the economic climate in the North East, the poorest part of the country, but….

I am quite happy & comfortable with our crowds , we may add a few if we charged what they did mind ? Other side of coin is you need the money to compete

Definitions of Durham tend to not include Sunderland.
We also need to factor in a large chunk of south Tyneside for Sunderland's catchment.
You can probably get towards a million.
In sum, Sunderland are not well supported, despite their delusions.

It’s funny because the sky commentators kept mentioning the noise the fans were making last night and you could hear it.

They always seem to think that just because they’ve beat a team this season, that automatically makes them better than them. They reference our loss to them as some sort of barometer but never mentioned when we beat them at home.

Yes funny that isn’t it

Now their logic is Ross Stewart missing is why they aren’t in second.

They are barmy

Although it pains me to say it, I do feel Sunderland are a better side than most give them credit for. They have played the majority of games without a recognised striker with the loss of Stewart to injury and Everton recalling Ellis Simms has hampered them. If they could have turned two of their 13 draws into a win (I know that can go the other way) they would be right amongst it.

They are sh!te really. 🤣 🤣 🤣

This one was a corker. Put in his box by a fellow supporter.

In their last 10 they had a tough run of four games against Norwich, Sheff U, Luton, Burnley, & got 5 points and arguably should've got at least 6 given the poor refereeing decisions against SU. But then they only got 4 points from Bristol City, Rotherham, Coventry, Stoke, Hull, & Cardiff.

Whichever way you cut it 9 points from 10 games is not promotion form. Our last 10, without checking the stats to make sure, have been the worst run under Carrick & we got 17 points.

However, they've got Birmingham, Huddersfield, West Brom, Watford & Preston left, all winnable & they are only 4 points outside the playoffs. Certainly doable for them.

If they sneaked in & we met over 2 legs, or at Wembley that would be pretty awesome.
