That’s it then. No Deal

Is that one of your so called facts as well
An observation. Look i know it must be upsetting to feel uninformed and lacking knowledge but there is no shame in admitting it. You'd sound a lot better than just showing your ignorance on a subject in every post

Absolutely Lefty I just don't get people already telling me it is a tragic mistake. Time will tell and either of us may be right but 5/10 years not before transition even done

But we do already know the whole thing has caused bitterness and division, which is a cost. EU membership was never a major issue.

Then we have had Parliament absolutely stymied for 4+ years. Another cost.

There is the cost to our international reputation.

There is the cost to the union between the countries of the UK.

There is the opportunity cost. I've earlier linked to the graph showing how our growth has tailed off compared to the trajectory it was on and the EU's, in the period since the referendum and the end of 2019. It is the double the amount that was plastered on the side of the bus.

Then there are the costs of lorry parks, customs officers and customs agents, all of which were previously unnecessary and none of which we actually have ready.

This is before we look at the extra nail this is going to put in the coffin of businesses that have covid to overcome, relocations, jobs that would have come here in the automotive, pharmaceutical and other science sectors and the brain drain snowball effect.

The question is, what are we getting for this price? Theoretical complete Sovereignty which we then have to gradually give up bit by bit as we try to engage with the rest of the world, which is exactly what we knew we were doing when we joined the EU? Stopping immigration we need, trusting the State to effectively manage our economy rather than the market? The State just can't do this very well. The experiments with Communism showed this. That is States in general and we are talking about our State. This Government. This Home Office. The Government that repeatedly finds roles for Williamson, Patel and even Grayling. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Ultimately the head in the sand routine is only going to wash for so long.

As is the tripe that Brexit was some sort of working class revolt against the establishment.

I'm sure our hard of letters friends on this board will continue their contortionism and find a reason as to why this whole debacle was a good idea - but they'll dwindle.

From January things actually change and there's no easy route back. I just hope they eventually gain the decency to admit they were wrong and accept they've ruined lives -whether they're in a Working Men's club, a tennis club or the Bullingdon club.
They won't do that. They'll blame other people and Europe.

I give up trying to moderate this debate, Carry on name calling folks, it does no good, changes no ones mind and quite frankly a waste of both sides time.
Not sure why you would want to moderate it?

Heres my position. With all the billions spent on Brexit already, the isolation of our country and with all of us having restricted freedom of movement I belive it to be a bad idea.

If someone came up with a counter argument I'd say fair enough and just deal with the hardship.

The fact that people like @Same_as_before and @Hicktonpen10 are not only unable to come up with a counter argument but actually REVELING in their own ignorance is what I'm rallying against. It's an almost hilarious situation we find ourselves in where so many people can see a mistake has been made and can point to failed trade agreements, money spent and restricted movement as evidence. Yet the people who have forced us into the mistake are seemingly proud of the fact they don't know why. Actually proud to be ignorant. You can't moderate this or bring any reason into it.

People on this thread have sold this country down the river for no valid reason at all and, I'm sorry, I can't forgive them, can't heal, can't repair this rift unless they show some knowledge or concessions.

I'm not going to "be the bigger man" not when so much has gone wrong for so little point.

What....... hold 51% of the Brexit Electorate to account?
It was simply a combination of jingositic popularism by the right wing media, supporting opportunistic political nobodies successfully stirring the inbred bigotry of the older generations.

Just hoping the inevitably tragic financial havoc will hit suffiicently to impact the next election.

No, it is the 52% who voted for this mess that need to acknowledge they made a mistake and try to understand why. Then they should join and hold the people who led the campaigns to account and make them pay a price. We need to learn lessons, but that can't happen without admitting there is a mistake to learn from in the first place. Then we need to put in place measures to ensure we don't repeat these mistakes, which includes some sort of punishment on those who led us into it, the media for not doing their job, putting in place other safeguards but mostly understanding how easily all of us can make a right t*t of themselves, because make no mistake, on a different issue, it could have been most people who voted Remain having their buttons pushed. We really do need to rediscover or re-embrace the enlightenment and science and engage our critical thinking skills.

I wonder....... will the Labour Party hold their hands up?

It is what it is. Life goes on. Do find it funny the EU is planning for no deal by saying they are planning to allow fishing in each other waters in the event of no deal, not sure that’s how it works if we don’t actually agree to it. I still think there will be a deal, it’s in no ones interest for there not to be so carry on with your lives.

You're either ignorant of the problems or you are not. It's not an opinion that if someone is wilfully ignorant of a disaster, they will be shocked when the disaster hits. It's fact
fact ? No its your opinion of what _might_ happen. The more you keep going on about your fact, the more it comes across that you want people who voted to leave to be punished. That's what you and a few others really want isn't it ?

The race card will be out soon.
When those who believe in Sugar Candy Mountain realise they have been sold a donkey, having been promised a racehorse, it will be the Europeans to blame again!(n)

No deal would be a catastrophe. With all the money spent and the isolation of our country a deal isn’t exactly great. It puts us in a worse position than we are now.

Interesting to see that the latest news shows that fishing quotas is the one thing that Boris won't compromise on, and as someone rightly pointed out a few days ago, this is not to protect some bloke with a small trawler in Grimsby but some of the richest men in the UK holding most of the quotas.

Still, all in this together eh !
