Second Test - India v England

Similar to stumpings which are usually umpire reviews after an appeal. Don't recall any umpire reviews except stumpings and run outs.

Close to the ground catches and bump balls are classed as umpire reviews too I believe.

I think it's clear from this and other test matches that the DRS system needs better communication between the on field and third umpire. It was clear no shot was offered and should have been something the third umpire overturned.

I like the rugby communication giving precise instruction as to what should be being looked for.

I’ve always thought there should be a minimum standard that test pitches should meet to make a game of things whilst still retaining local conditions.

Lots of Whinging poms here, our spinners are dog **** and that’s why we are going to lose, moeen Ali is a pie chucker, part timer root is a better option

It isn't a good cricket wicket, but Foakes and Rohit have shown you can bat on it if you find a method. Indian bowlers are better than English ones understandably in their home conditions. We don't complain too much when it seams all over the place on the first morning at Trent Bridge and Broad gets eight wickets. It works both ways!

If we produced a pitch here that was designed to end the game in 3 days it will be criticised the same and regularly does as it deprives fans of 2 days of summer cricket and can backfire if overhead conditions contradicts the surface.

I want to see a competitive game between bat and ball. What we have in this match is a pitch produced to be an Indian insurance policy. No test match pitch should play like day 5 on day 1.

Is there something about being Middlesbrough fans that makes everyone blame refs (or umpires) and the pitch?

Nobody said anything about the pitch or the umpire in the first test when Joe Root was apparently the greatest batsman since Don Bradman.

Must have your head in the sand if you think it's just this forum commentating on it.

Even the Australian cricketers are complaining about the quality of the pitch.
The umpiring decisions have been bizarre too, one was so blatantly wrong that they gave back the review despite the decision standing.
