'Sammy Ameobi to Middlesbrough is all-but done'

It isn't my team
I assume its a team that you are purporting will be played by the manager, that you've put together to make a point that there aren't enough goals in the team. You've had to leave out the three top goalscorers to make it which I think invalidates the point. Would you leave out mane firmino and Salah and ask who is going to score the goals for Liverpool next year?

The reality is we need to do very little to replace the goals and assists we have lost from Britt and Fletcher. Johnson is the one we need to replace. Even then I'm sure we'll hardly have to pull up trees.

The main idea really behind our transfers is to bring in a player who helps the team. If we are going to be able to bring in an effective target man, the aim is the goals scored by the other players will improve.

Neither they're both on the bang average to woeful level and if we have any ideas of getting above tenth or eleventh we need better?
Our top 10 performers last season (statistically)

1. Dael Fry 2666 mins played average rating 7.06
2. Grant Hall 1550 mins played average rating 6.98
3. Marcus Tavernier 2213 mins played average rating 6.95
4. Patrick McNair 4090 mins played average rating 6.93
5. George Saville 3246 mins played average rating 6.82
6. Neeskens Kebano 1225 mins played average rating 6.81
7. Yannick Bolasie 935 mins played average rating 6.81
8. Marc Bola 3612 mins played average rating 6.78
9. Anfernee Dirksteel 2530 mins played average rating 6.76
10. Darnel Fisher 908 mins played average rating 6.73

So.. that would place Sammy Ameobi in 8th place. Pretty average huh.

Until you factor in minuites played.. then we're looking at a top four contributer
Note how Johnson, Spence, Mendez-Laing are nowhere in sight

Sammy Ameobi is a SOLID signing

Sammy is experienced, but never really put a run of games together where he has looked better than bottom half of champo.

He can on his day be unplayable, but that only happens once a month at best, and he can be very frustrating with his pass selection and crossing/shooting accuracy.

I hope he will be in a pool of wide players and not a guaranteed starter, he will be useful in and out the side.

Why is it solid signing Sir John ?

This is how I see it. He’s a useful squad player so if there is better to come i see him as a decent signing

Did you read the first sentence of my original post?

Nothing against him personally but I don’t think we are stronger for losing Johnson and making this signing.

And to be fair Firminio barely scores! Though I take your point.........

I didn't assemble the team/line up. Someone offered it as a possible starting XI for next season on another thread with Ameobi and Hoilett as the wingers. My comment was purely on the goals that the XI that was posted managed last year. With a tongue in cheek comment on who we would need to match last years total.

A quick pre England game stronger or weaker Newyddion XI..

Stronger? or Weaker?

Jordan Archer - Lee Burge
Marvin Johnson - Denver Hume
Lewis Wing - Pelly Ruddock
Ashley Fletcher - Josh Maja
Britt Assombalonga - Michael Smith
Neeskens Kebano - Christian Atsu
Yannick Bolasie - Josh Windass
Nathanial Mendez-Laing - Sammy Ameobi
Djed Spence - Luke O Nien
George Saville - Alex Mowatt
Chubba Akpom - Paul Mullin

Overall?
Predicted Finish:
Higher than Last Season?
Play Offs?
Smash the league?

Better obviously but I doubt we'll sign any of the 'good' or more correctly expensive players on that list.

If both played on the wing in our side for a full season, do you think Johnson or Ameobi would get more assists?
