That does show Sweden as having higher excess deaths. I'll have a look for the chart I got my data from and post that. I may have read it wrong, of course.

well that just points to the swedish healthcare system being better funded if anything. If you look at excess deaths they are orders of magnitude better than we are. The cost of covid isn't just covid deaths
come on Randy, please show that you are prepared to review your stance based on evidence and data rather than a prejudice that you really don't want lockdowns because of personal prejudices. I don't think any of us like lockdowns by the way, the key is to approach the data selflessly and honestly. Sweden's strategy doesn't look successful at all, and that is as expected.
I am sure there are lots of reasons Mart. It may point to the UK's inability to do anything, anything at all. No masks, no social distancing, no protective ring around care homes, no PPE.well that just points to the swedish healthcare system being better funded if anything.
That will be interesting tomorrow. I would expect the tories to get it back at the next GE. By-elections are often a protest vote, but the tories have held it, uninterrupted for a century. 2 years ago this would have been unthinkable.I believe there will be more, at least one more day of revelation ready for the north shropshire by-election
we did, just introduced beyond the point of flooding our hospital capacity. This disease is nowhere near as deadly if you have the medical resources to treat patients. We saw that in March/April last year in Italy, a huge spike in deaths because they didn't have enough beds, enough medical staff and enough oxygen.I am sure there are lots of reasons Mart. It may point to the UK's inability to do anything, anything at all. No masks, no social distancing, no protective ring around care homes, no PPE.
We had lockdown and vaccination.
OkYes they had more covid deaths, but that wasn't my point really. If you look at excess deaths they are orders of magnitude better than we are. The cost of covid isn't just covid deaths, it's all deaths that wouldn't have happened. And people say you can't compare us with Sweden. If you compare them with neighbours, they did exceptionally well with excess deaths, whilst limiting public life very little.
well that probably depends if Johnson is still asleep at the wheel. That will be interesting tomorrow. I would expect the tories to get it back at the next GE. Johnson will be nowhere near no 10 by the next election. If the tories had someone to replace him with, he would be gone now.well that probably depends if Johnson is still asleep at the wheel.

On a different subject does anyone know if PMQ's is going ahead today?
Yup I spotted that too, not sure if Johnson is going to be handing over to Raab, maternity leave and all. If Johnson turns up, Starmer will be pushing him on the lie he told in parliament about his flat refurb costs. Could be fun today. It's listed to go ahead on BBC Parliament so I would presume so
This could be the Tory Party's 'Hartlepool'.That will be interesting tomorrow. I would expect the tories to get it back at the next GE. By-elections are often a protest vote, but the tories have held it, uninterrupted for a century. 2 years ago this would have been unthinkable.

It's nice to have something to look forward to mid-week!It would look terrible if he bottled it! I had a quick look online and it looks like Johnson is doing it after all:
