The one with my name on itMy HSBC Dr card was the one that worked
It is just wrong that this can happen. In fact it is disgusting.
I think the issue was yesterday, everyone was using their phones to buy tickets, you have a certain period of time to buy a ticket and nobody at the ticket office to speak to when cards are getting refused that have funds available and have been used previously to buy tickets without a problem.Have noted this and will get a response.
The linked issue is just that actually people not being able to communicate with the club about the problem.
All the banks are putting this extra security it. The club really should be on top of this ASAP. Otherwise they won't be able to sell any tickets online in the very near future.Have noted this and will get a response.

Season tickets won't have the same problem. Early bird prices are available for a few weeks.. Completely different scenario than rushing to get Chelsea tickets before they sell out....I think the issue was yesterday, everyone was using their phones to buy tickets, you have a certain period of time to buy a ticket and nobody at the ticket office to speak to when cards are getting refused that have funds available and have been used previously to buy tickets without a problem.
The acid test will be season tickets. I think the demand this season for season will be huge, potential season ticket could be lost due to the frustration with cards being declined. It could be a multi million pound problem.
You have a place at the top table and are the advocate of fans. Hopefully rob somebody can listen to you and the club can release a statement on this.
The club were able to make a very cogent statement on the Derby County litigation at short notice so this needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency.
It is disgusting what has happened, fans has tickets in their basket but could not buy them as the system was flawed.
The company are supposed to be using Strong Customer Authentication under new regulations - if they aren't then transactions may not go throughI am season ticket holder and I tried to buy a ticket with a Lloyds bank card, money in account, same with Halifax bank. All transactions were declined.
Same issue with my brother who got his daughter to use a virgin money bank account.
When it happened to me, I called my bank who advised that Middlesbrough football club are unaware of a new security measure that is stopping online purchases.
What several people are worried is imagine if you are trying to buy a play off or cup ticket again in high demand and you can’t buy them.
Can you make representations to the club to see if the club can speak to Lloyds bank, NatWest, Halifax to advise of the issue, how to rectify the problem.
Loads of posts of people with this problem, perhaps people can just mention the number of attempts trying to buy a ticket and which bank you had a problem with.
Something that needs to be brought to the top table.
Thanking you in advance, redlips x
Nat West are with Royal Bank Of ScotlandNo all registered to the same house and still issues.
NatWest, Halifax and Lloyds are part of the same banking group.
This.Got this recently from my online Bank maybe this is why cards are being declined
Possibly M.F.C. are not 3D SECURE yet.
You may notice that we ask you to approve online purchases more often and that more
transactions may be declined starting from Monday 14th March 2022. This is due to new
rules to help make it safer to shop online. From now on, all banks and retailers are required
by law to use the 3D Secure system to help stop fraudsters.
What is 3D Secure?
3D Secure is a payment security system designed to reduce card fraud by checking that
it’s really you trying to buy something. At XXXXXXXX, we already have 3D Secure in place. Here’s how it works:
- When you make an online card payment that needs extra authentication, you’ll see a window pop up on the retailer’s website asking you to check the XXXXXXXX app.
- You’ll receive an instant notification from the XXXXXXXX app on your phone, taking you to the app.
- From here, you will be asked to review and confirm the purchase before returning to the retailer’s website.
What happens if a retailer doesn’t use 3D Secure?
All retailers have to be able to handle 3D Secure, but some might not yet be ready. If you’re
making an online purchase that needs extra security checks, but the retailer isn’t using 3D Secure
properly, your payment might be declined. If this happens, it’s a good idea to get in touch with
the retailer to see if you can pay them another way.
