I meant more, don't press so hard early doors. Change it so we pace ourselves. I would be up for go for 5 goals in the first hour too though 😁

Were poor at not taking out chances. And midfield depth is concerning. But that wasn't a poor display.

We weren’t poor, we were just tired so shut down. But we did that very successfully.

Game should have been over before we shut down mind, but we didn’t miss quite as much today, as other games.

I don’t think we pressed that hard first half, not compared to some games, looked like we never pressed until they got to 40 yards up, unless they got themselves in bother.

Hoofing it knackered us up a bit too, gave the ball away, and you’re better having it tired than chasing it tired.

Not sure I agree we intercepted a lot of balls in the first half. We didn't press so hard up front because we only had one striker.

He's probably right, going forward yes, but our defensive side was so good tonight, we protected Roberts as much as possible, shows Sunderland had so much possession & lumped it aimlessly out for a goal kicks, they were so frustrated, it was like watching big Jacks team again
 
No complaints really. 3 points, a clean sheet and a bit of confidence following some undeserved results and a disappointing end to the transfer window.
That confidence might make more difference than the 3 points going forward.

Ah I don’t mean in the middle of the pitch, you always have to do that, it’s unavoidable in modern football, I mean pressing in their half. Trying to win it further up the pitch, you can even do that with a 10 like McGree as he’s a good runner.

We were more half court press than full press. You don’t have to press as hard if you’re condensed in one half, as there’s less space to work with. Problem is when you win it you need to play out, we could could have done that a little better but we played back a bit, and then didn’t play forward, we launched it forward.

Not then end of the world though as we didn’t bomb out to chase it, and we sort of relied on their lack of creativity, and them missing Stewart.

Maybe that was the tactic all along, let ‘em have it at the back, and eventually they’ll work it up the pitch, and inevitably to him to give it back to us 😂

I don't think the comments are negative, just being honest. Anyone who thinks we didn't look tired was watching a different game. We had nothing on the bench to help the midfield and a better team might have capitalised on it.

Hats off to all the players, they gave their all out there for that win and also kept a clean sheet.

Absolutely agree about the tiredness, hence my dismay on here on deadline day. Just don't agree it was a poor performance. Tired second half of course.
