We gave up trying to create, largely as we we’re shot, so we shut up shop. Least by sitting back and condensing it we didn’t allow them much space or chances in the final third.

We still probably had by far the most clear cut chances, but could have been so much easier with midfield subs, or switching out from a midfield 3 earlier.
 
Roberts deserves to keep his place when Steffen fit. Commanding display. Defence looked much happier.

Sunderland are a decent team so 3 points is all that matters. We have to follow this up with a good run now, starting with Blackpool away.
 
They had the momentum for about 20. minutes after half time, Mowbtay did fcuk it up with all the changes, they didn't have the same fluency, 👍👍👍I take results anyway they come at the moment.

Even a league 1 player or some young lad not ready but with pace would really help.

We need 2 midfield subs for that starting 11, and formation, otherwise we’re only playing 60 minutes, and have to shut up shop the last 30, whether we’re 1-0 up or 1-0 down.

Aye. We are a 60 minute team and will be going nowhere if we can't change that.

Suppose they were tiring too, but at least they had the option to freshen the middle up. They clearly don’t have the strength in depth we do (other than centre mid).
 
Very shocked the negative comments. A large portion of that second half was a mentality issue. Getting through a period where we've let in late goals and thrown away points. We survived that and will be better for it.

Dominated the first half, still had the most chances second. No idea how some think we are poor.

Were poor at not taking out chances. And midfield depth is concerning. But that wasn't a poor display.

Or we change the way we play a little until January.
 
Wonder if we could turn dijksteele into a centre/ holding mid, until we get someone in. I prefer him at the back to McNair mind, and not that keen on McNair in midfield, but good enough to backup.

Weird. BBC seem to be showing result as 0-0, and have us on 7 points!? (I guess they'll realise they've been clowns shortly).

Yeah, a 1-0 lead would mean 5-4-1 though, like tonight, which would be nervy AF, like tonight even though we did it late. Or we just go bananas for it, 4-3-3, with Giles and Jones tucking in and three forwards 😂 or the good old 5-2-3 hoof ball 😂

I don't think the comments are negative, just being honest. Anyone who thinks we didn't look tired was watching a different game. We had nothing on the bench to help the midfield and a better team might have capitalised on it.

Hats off to all the players, they gave their all out there for that win and also kept a clean sheet.

Quick, fit, and blood awkward too. He’s a bit one footed mind, but if we let him win it and give him options he could do a job there. I like him at the back for his pace mind. He got ahead of Simms with ease a few times tonight, and never give it away or launched it 👌
