Ajax.

Cant help getting the feeling it would be a step backwards to have him back.
Sad for him, but thats the choice he made.
Carrick had this to say Thursday:

Carrick considered dipping into the market to cover for injuries?
[Shakes head vigorously] Not at this stage no [Looks sternly at reporter].

But it may be a different answer come January?

He would never turn around in October and say yes definitely we're desperate.

They've just appointed an interim manager - John van't Schip.

Pretty average record as a manager, most recently with the Greece national team.

Has no release clause in contract. Sadly we could not afford his wages on a loan. Then surely next summer we would be in the same position as last summer, having to wave goodbye to Chuba and struggling to know how to replace him.

We wouldn’t necessarily have to cover his full wages, if Ajax are desperate to be rid of him they may accept us paying a portion of his wages.
I also don’t agree with the argument of never getting better players on loan because we’ll miss them when they’re gone. Surely we don’t regret having Archer and Ramsey last season? It was the best football I’ve seen us play in years. As long as loan signs are balanced with permanent signings with the future in mind, I think they can be an excellent way of helping the team to progress.
All pure speculation of course!

There’s a lot of water to go under the bridge before January.

If Chuba leaves Ajax I don’t think we will be his first choice.

We have saved money on not paying loan wages for Lewis O'Brien, because of his long term injury. There is possibly more money coming in from the League Cup than budgeted for in July.

We may not be his first choice, but which English Premier League Clubs would want him after his record this season?

Aside from one season , he’s been ***** . We robbed Ajax . Even if he came back (he won’t ) he won’t be anywhere like last season . He truly was a one season wonder . He would have left on a free had it not been for last season, and many fans saying they’re glad he’s gone

He’s not starting because he hasn’t looked good enough in training and he’s not good enough to be in the first team of an elite club like Ajax .

I don’t want him back

They're winning 1-0 tonight, and Akpom is on the pitch as 79th minute sub.

Crazily, this will be the first win he's been involved in this season and it's November.

Still about 10 minutes left, so they might yet blow it.
