And so the Chuba rumours start

I think Chuba will be concerned that was his best season and the only place to near repeat it would be to stay in the Boro fold not chance it at Palace or where evs. They are not likely to play him in the system Carrick is playing him are they. He risks being back to a single digit striker.

It was obviously an over exaggeration, Archer is worth at the most £12m IMO
I agree ..... and if any potential suitors were watching how he performed on Wednesday, in a high pressure match, you could probably halve that valuation

If he was worth what people were saying on here, more than Watkins was bought for btw then he would have never have left villa.

Payero isn’t coming back, deal already agreed and they know they can buy him and sell him for more straight away. I expect these rumours to be used for Akpom’s agent to get the best deal for him, at 28 and after the season he’s had this next contract is massive financially for Akpom. I feel he’s happy here, but at the end of the day it’s his career and the agent is employed to get the best deal he can wherever that might be
I honestly wish Chuba Akpom the very best and really hope he stays. He’s onto a good thing with Carrick imo.. if I was him I’d be looking for an improved contract. Hopefully the players we bring in improve his standing and chances of playing in the prem.

He deserves his shot in the prem and owes us absolutely nothing. Hope he stays, best of luck to him if he Choo Choo chooses to go.

Someone with more knowledge tell me how transfermarket works.

Anyway archer is worth 10 million on that and akpom 7 million

Or if they watched earlier on in the season against Sheffield United in another high pressure match how he turned the game around with two clinical finishes then you could probably triple it.

We simply cannot afford to risk losing him for free, or worse, him not repeating his form next season AND leaving for free. I can't see a scenario where he agrees a new contract when in mid-May there are already a plethora of online articles from PL fans saying their club should sign him this summer. I honestly think he's going to be inundated.
This. Unfortunately, Chuba will be at a bottom-half Premiership club by the end of August and good luck to him. Once he dropped back to 10 he became a different player and we will sorely miss what he gave. He was crucial to the style of play; he had skill and strength. Can Crooks play that role? Possibly. He knows where the goal is but his close control is suspect and he lacks the dynamism to arrive onto the ball at speed in the box.
I'd love to see Archer and/or Ramsey back but if they go back out you'd feel it would be to Prem clubs, so we'll just have to hope Carrick's Man U ties mean he's top of the list for their fringe players. Be nice if we took Diallo...
This is a crucial test for Carrick now: can he build a team with the same free-flowing profile out of different materials on a severely constrained budget. With Howson getting on, he needs Barlaser to step up, and he needs Fry back to a consistent level. He needs a new right back - or to trust Dijksteel - and maybe a left back too if Wolves want too much for Giles. Most of all he needs to replace our three best, most dangerous players, Akpom, Archer and Ramsey.

Ramirez, de Roon, Spence, Gibson - all factored.

Who else has Boro sold for significant money in recent years?
You could add Tav, Traore and Bamford to your list. I was referring to how you factored in the payments, guess you were being ironic, fair play.

Definitely worth bringing him back and giving it a go if he’s up for it. Payero could become our Gus Hammer
It’ll be entirely different under MC for payero but perhaps he doesn’t realise that and needs to come back to experience it
I think chubas position would be ideal for his type of game.

25mil.....with one year left. I'd frankly 'start the car'. That's after one good season in his career.

You can do a lot with that kinda money.

Cant honestly see us getting anywhere near 25 million though l personally would only sell for stupid money ( more than 15 million )

We just need the recruitment team to get in a few gems permanently ( they’ve done it recently with Forss and McGree and maybe Barlaser who I personally think will come good )

And a few premier league young stars / out of favour players like last season as for me you couldn’t fault Steffan Giles Ramsey and Archer but we got them 4 so hopefully we can get similar standard in and Carrick hasn’t tapped Man U yet for their young starts fingers crossed he does

Carney Chukwuemeka
Thelo Aasgaard
Facundo Pellistri
Lewis Hall
Alfie Devine

All have no hope of playing for their club, all play in positions we need. These are just off the top of my head. There is loads of talent to be had. We will get there.

Carrick is the key. He's smart, improves players, is humble enough to learn from his mistakes and is a proven winner.
