Best performance of the season with 3/13 on the pitch

I literally just said they do 😂 Players they signed 1-2 years ago are now stepping up to replace the players lost… Van Hecke, Gilmour etc

Because they are 3-4 years ahead of us with the transfer strategy we have only just started implementing. Patience required.
Brighton invested massively from promotion
Huge net transfer spends for the first 4 seasons. Over £200m.
They then broke even in the 5th.
It is only the last 2 seasons where they are selling very high and spending on lower price potential.
They did the exact opposite of us on promotion for 4years.
Brighton got football performance from their investment, not just a financial return.
I would be more patient if I could see promise.
I don’t see promise in the players Scott has signed on permanent deals since he has been here.

Pretty sad to dredge up and still a long way to go.
But I will have no problem holding my hands up at season end if there is need to.

Don’t worry I’ve got you saying I was talking nonsense when I claimed we’d score 60+ goals this season locked and loaded, ready to go 😂

It's sort of looking like you might have to indeefio. I think, of the outfield players engel and rogers have done well as has bangura when selected. Not faultless but improving game on game. Silvera I think it may be next season before we see the best of him. I still believe he is going to be the best of the bunch.

Hopefully you won't be the only one who holds their hands up at the end of the season.

viv_andersons_nana is bang on.

Patience.

Was always a rebuild season after losing Chuba and the loanees (sounds like a 7s pub rock band......)

Think most fans after the Sheff Weds game were hugely concerned, players weren't performing individually and certainly the synergy in the team wasn't there.

But, time and patience along with some fantastic management has got us to be within a shout of the playoffs and a cup semi.

Would missing out on the playoffs be seen as an unsuccessful season? I don't think so. These are hopefully the foundations for the next 3-4 years; players, team and manager developing together.

Possibly the second half of last season, with 5 loan players, papered over some cracks. Now we have the polyfilla setting and ready to be sanded. 👍

I’ve actually re-read the whole thread and stand by my posts so far.

I posted once on the match day thread yesterday,, saying it was early days when all posters were in meltdown prior to that.

Scott has recruited the vast majority of this squad.
All 3 GK’s.
2/3 RB’s.
Both 2 LB’s.
3/5 CB’s.
2/4 CM’s.
7/9 AM
1/2 ST.
That’s 20 of the 28 squad players, exc the fringe youngsters not in the squad.
He also re-signed Coulson.

(Boyd Munce and Roberts have come and gone in addition)
8 additional loans came in and went.

Only 8 players: Fry, McNair, Hackney, Jones, Howson, Crooks, Dijksteel, Coburn were pre Scott.
They mostly remain key players for Carrick.

As I have repeatedly posted I see promise in Rogers (from opening match) and VdB.
Dieng is better than his last GK Steffen.
O’ Brien and Greenwood are good loans but not Archer, Ramsey or even Giles class.

Jury still out for me on many of the permanents.
Some I’m not a fan of at all (Silvera, Engel, Gilbert, Lath to name some)

I will not wait to season end. I comment on every good performance or run of good form by players I have doubted and will carry on doing so.
And if we make the play offs I will hold my hands up, no problem as I would have taken that a year ago and again last May.
If we go up this season I will ask for no relish to eat my humble pie and will enjoy every mouthful.

But I won’t be hoofing old threads if we don’t.
Patience may be a virtue Viv, but so is humility.

To be fair, I am not a fan of hoofing threads to embarass. Whilst some can be fun to re-read, it's a bit childish.

We will see where we end up.

On the subject of making the playoffs, we have been very inconsistent since our mini run, yet we find ourselves just 1 point from top 6. If any of the teams around us put, even a 3 or 4 run of winning games together, it will put them in the top 6. Barring the top 3, the rest are as inconsistent as we are.

You would expect us to get more consistent as the season goes on. We had a lot of changes in the summer. It's one of the reasons I fully expect us to be in the playoffs again this year.

Fair enough if you stand by what you said back in September.

Silvera, Engel, Gilbert, Lath - I don’t know who the others are you allude to, have all made some contribution. Maybe Gilbert has yet to be tried. Engel is ok, Silvera definitely one to keep and Lath is no passenger. Puts a shift in. No they aren’t Archer class but not many are.
