Boris Johnson

Corbyn was a F***ing walking disaster with his foreign policy despite what some on here will think (views on the Iranian revolution , Ireland and nukes to name a few ). The tories should never have won such a big majority
I'm not sure why we need some random Corbyn-hate in a thread about the Tories imploding but which of those views do you disagree with Corbyn on and why?

If the UK and CIA hadn't meddled in Iran in the early 1950's then it would likely still be a secular ally in the middle-east.

Ireland is (was until Brexit at least) in a much better place now than it was prior to the Good Friday Agreement. Which bit of Corbyn's 'foreign policy' on Ireland is/was wrong?

Do you think political leaders should be firing nukes? Will you applaud Putin if he decides to use them in Ukraine?

Corluka what you've posted is conspitital noncence. "Johnson orchestrated Truss to be rubbish to fulfil a Churchill ambition?"

I mean WTF 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

The reality is if you look at Johnsons politics he is a populist liberal who had broke the Tories obsession with Thatcherism and was creating a big state with high taxes

On here the orthodoxy seems to be he is far right

However the Tories turned to Truss because they were worried about middle England and saw Johnson as a libertarian. So wanted to bolster their base which they realised under Truss just wasn’t an option anymore. They quickly realised Thatcherism is dead and acted quickly to remove her

He can’t be far right and a liberal so clearly the posts on here are arguing over a total misunderstanding of what Johnson even is at a fundamental basic level. Immigration is at record levels

🤷🏻‍♂️

So the question is now do they pursue the small state now under the guise of austerity 2.0 or do they try to go with Boris’s politics with either Boris in charge or someone who is less of flawed character and stick to his policies
Lots of things wrong with that post and two of them came in your last paragraph.

1. You call him Boris
2. Johnson only ever had one policy and that still hasn’t been achieved.

sounds like Johnson is getting desperate according to the guardian he tried to do a deal with Penny Mordaunt and get her to drop out and support him
“Sources close to the Leader of the House of Commons” told the news agency that Mordaunt refused, warning that most of her support would switch to Rishi Sunak if she did." I think he believes in is own publicity too much and hopefully he will be humiliated after being unable to muster a 100 nominations from the Tory MP's maybe they are not a thick as people think!

It’s not even a debate he’d walk it as it really is a cult.

They chose truss over sunak remember so the great leader isn’t even a contest.
It's continued chaos either way.

Johnson gets in, and he doesn't have the support of 2/3rd of his MPs.
Sunak gets in and he doesn't have the support of Tory voters

Well, Starmer appears to be doing it now.. strengthening the right wing of the party, forcing out the left. Taking up ‘the centre’ - Labour will end up resembling something closer to Cameron & Cleggs coalition government.
Doubt it, they still want to take back ownership of energy and rail, they want to see business growth like we havne't had since the days of Blair, they want to invest in the police and NHS. This is the stuff that CAmeron started to dismantle under his austerity ideology....so, no, a Starmer lead labour will be nothing close to what we got under Cameron and Clegg.

Hmm.. it would be nice if it happened.

Be hilarious if he doesn't get the numbers...and it also leaves loons like Rees Mogg high and dry too.

And as Boro Mart says, a government still unable to function due to continued in house battles. GE coming, the clamour will be too great to resist. And a little bounce in the polls after the Truss disaster may convince the Tories it's their best bet to retain a reasonable number of seats anyway.

There has to be a chronological order to events

Which is why there needs to be a bit of thought as to the implications of the potential difference of the Tory Candidates. Boris might not go forward from here

Boris is going to really struggle with this weekends votes as Rishi is the MPs clear favourite

They didn’t dump Truss because she did damage to the country but because she did damage to the party

And if Risi gets in they just could win the next election and that’s all this is about

Rishi Sunak is not popular with many many people or within the Tory party, he is the least worst option purely because he may be able to stabilise the markets somewhat.

He will be brought down from within just like the rest as soon as he raises taxes.

I think he's so unpopular because he's viewed as a moderate, amongst an ever increasing number of hard right Conservatives.

Sunak is on a hiding to nothing here.. if Johnson gets the nominations to take it to a members vote then unfortunately there are more than enough morons to see him back in No.10.

If Johnson doesn’t get the nominations then Sunak becomes PM without asking the members… which will rip them apart from the inside once again!

I'm leaning more than ever towards he will declare he isn't running and that he is doing it for the good of the nation........the reality being that he is a) scared of what will come regarding his lying to the house, and b) he hasn't got 100 votes, not even that close.

I suspect that they are close to 100 but not there, hence trying to gather some dithers who are trying to see which way the wind is blowing by the constant tweeting that he has 100. Interesting.

I don't think Johnson has any policy beyond self-interest. Trying to retrofit some sort of radical agenda to his actions is frankly risible.

I think we have to re-evaluate on a day by day basis

Rishi had a divisive problem a week or so ago but now the priority is to unify after Truss.

He will cause them problems but they will look almost minor tomorrow

Like I said the morons criticising Boris on here now will be spitting their bile if Penny or Rishi gets in

That’s all they know bile

I thought you understood politics? You clearly know nothing of the damage to millions of people caused by Rishi Sunak, they will never forget.

The Tories will not end this cycle of self destruction, this "leadership race" is just another part of their ridiculous charade.

If I'm a moron for criticising the most incompetent, lying, selfish, corrupt disaster of a PM then call me Moron McMoronface.
