Can't blame the manager for that

Years of hardly touching grass in the opposition half has been our downfall.
Even during our positive periods under Kranky we'd hardly ever get men in the opposition half.
Pulis and Warnock hardly helped (i'm ignoring the Monk test and the Woody disaster)
Players look like strangers up there.
Its all been about defence, defence, defence as long as I can remember.

Best of luck with the rebuild Chris.

I'll reserve my judgment on whether I can "blame" him until Saturday, if he picks the same shower of useless **** again then I'll very much blame him.

He has to start telling the truth, no more nonsense about "this is a great group of lads". He has to front up and put some noses out of joint - either they perform or they go the distance.

I thought we were great in the first half. We played some of the best football I’ve seen in a long time.

I think tonight though, I realised that some of the players who I thought were good enough actually aren’t. Feels like we’ll be heading for another big squad overhaul.

It feels like when Karanka and Pulis left and we "took the shackles off" and it turned out that the players weren't being held back at all, they'd been very well protected by the style of football we played. I'm hoping that Wilder has more about him than Monk and Woodgate though.

We had a spell after scoring where we were brilliant. Controlled possession-based football and we seemed to win it back as soon as we lost it. Preston were struggling to get our of their own half.

I was also impressed with how we pressed first half. Knowing the right times regarding when to press and when to sit in as a team. We did that really effectively.

2nd half, it just went flat again. I feel Watmore was a big loss. We missed his energy and endeavour.

A promising end to the first half, prior to the goal it was fairly even. We carried that on into the second half until we tired and lost discipline and concentration. We created a few chances, maybe should have had another goal but they weren't all clear cut.

Hopefully the new fitness regime along with a number of incomings and outgoings makes for an encouraging second half of the season.

Defenders bottled it simple as that. Absolute panic stations as soon as they got near our box. Bamba doing his own thing as always and he got caught out. Can imagine Wilder will be absolutely sick as a pig with that.

Criticising the players in public who he might be stuck with for a very long time really isnt the best suggestion, especially when confidence looks to be such an issue. The last manager tried that and it clearly didnt work

He said we played as if we were 3 or 4 nil up and played as individuals instead of as a team
Nothing wrong with that

May have been said on other threads but we are now seeing the monumental job that needs to be done by Wilder and his assistants

Seeing it now in all it`s glory you have to give credit to Warnock for getting what he did from the team

Right decision to replace him but my word we seem along way off being a team that can challenge at the very top of this league and then have the foundation to survive the Premier League

The 2nd goal was sunday league stuff ... fck knows why he was trying to thread a ball out behind mcnair... just clear it out to the wings

I honestly don’t know what you were watching.
So there seems to be this narrative now, everything under Warnock was shyte. And that's not true. We played some nice stuff (usually first half......) up till the final third, then final ball and decision making was abysmal. Last night same. Some really nice football at times, final third, it all stops due to final ball.
Wilder has had two weeks, and for the short term I fully expect it to be similar to Warnock performances. Long term, his players, we shall see a difference. Probably next season but.....you never know.
So, apologies to all those who don't agree (but I'm not bothered tbh) but if you had been in a coma for three weeks, woke up and watched the game last night, would you have clicked we had a new manager in, implementing his very different playing style?
We've all got our opinions, we may be right we may be wrong........🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

I actually thought it was one of our better performances this season. Took a little while to get going but then played some good stuff first half. We then appeared to keep that going in the second half, unlike against Millwall and Luton off the top of my head (probably a few more examples), at least until 75 mins and then it all went downhill. We desperately need that second goal when we're on top as this team cannot be trusted to see out 1-0.
