Chris Cooke is new Mayor

The reason? errrrrr, he’s a lying cheating, arrogant selfish Tory without any frickin conscience whatsoever
That's my point, why would the current board fear the new mayor taking the place of the old one, surely they would welcome the transparency and diversity of opinion.

Unless they had something to hide of course....

This feels like a huge result. I wasn't expecting it. I feel like the party machine was focusing mainly on Darlington. I didn't hear much from Chris and thought he struggled to maybe get the "column inches" so to speak to get his message across.

It would be a disgrace if Preston doesn't step down or isn't removed from the MDC.
He won't step down voluntarily will he? Can he be removed? Maybe he has got what he wanted, so losing the election is irrelevant to him. Or maybe losing is an advantage as he will have even less accountability than he did as mayor and can still flip his properties for ££££. Job done.

I see exiledinboro has been quiet too since his ridiculous outbursts a few weeks back, wonder what his thoughts are on the Mayoral election?

I'm glad he's gone. Kind of funny that the Conservatives put a paper candidate up that they didn't want to win. They didn't put him on any of their social media and publicly backed Andy Preston. Yet he somehow got 3000 votes... Whilst Preston lost by less than 1000.

I'm glad he's been voted out. But I'm not sure if people have seen through him. If the Conservatives hadn't fielded a candidate, I think he might have won. The mayor needs to do a good job over the next few years or he may end up being voted back in again.
