Why on earth would we put Dijksteel in the midfield 3?

And Spence can not play Centre back. Christ
 
As so many other players have improved under Wilder, we could reasonably expect Spence to do the same. He would be returning to an environment that he would barely recognise from Warnocks headless chicken outfit.
If there is a good player in there then Wilder will find him. If not then he will be sold on.
The lad was given a chance st Forest and responded positively. Let's see him do the same in a Boro shirt. Lots of football to be played between now and the end of the season and it would not surprise me to find ourselves with a depleted squad st times due to injuries and Covid.
 
I think it will boil down to money and how much it would cost us to recall him, verses what cash is available to strengthen in other areas.

Given we have no competition for Jones it would seem to be an easy choice really, but I suspect it may prove a more difficult decision for CW than that alone.

Jeez, touchy a little? Im not saying tear up the back three. Im suggesting that bringing Spence back gives more options to the whole squad. Having versatility and flexibilty is a good thing. Dijksteel played in midfield at Charlton as well as RB but you all knew that I guess

He played less than 7 games in midfield for Charlton. Most of his time was in defence and all of his time at Boro was in defence. He’s a great right sided centre half playing great why move him? And why disrupt a functioning midfield that is helping get us results. No one is against Bringing Spence back is competition for Jones, but he isn’t a centre back and Dijksteel isn’t a midfielder.
 
I like Spence but if hes not going to be playing then not paying his wages will give Wilder more options with transfers and loans next
month.
 
How much do you think we could sell him for 5 million? I just can't decide really, but surely Forest are desperate to sign him, just hope if he does go we don't give him away.
Maybe Uche out the door, Brown and maybe one other, possibly Hall.

Hoping we can raise 6 or 7 million and Gibbo maybe puts in another 5 million if he has it that is and finances allow it, I would like to think our new scouting team have some signings already lined up.

Certainly looks positive.

Im just saying that bringing Spence back gives us options. Theres no way way he gets in ahead ofJones or we put Jones on the left to accommodate him but, we dont need to because of other players; Dijksteel for example; potential to play in other positions if required. I'd like to see how he does in Midfiled, not because I want to break up the back three, but just to see how he does. Not like we're stocked with options there

We will just have to agree to disagree. Absolutely no chance he is gonna play Dijksteel in midfield anyway thankfully.

Fair enough. I havent said by bringing Spence back we have to play Dijksteel in midfield, like its some kind of law. Im just saying theres more potential benefits than just weakening Forest such as flexibility.

Even you and I can agree Spence has talent. Why sell it or give it away just to spend money to replace it? Dont know the inns and outs of it but if it any of this Spence situation was to do with Warnock and I suspect it was; then clean slate for all, even if he's just cover for Jones for the rest of the season. If Jones picked up a knock or worse, we've got no proven cover in that position and for all his promise, Spence should have apoint to prove at Boro at least

I agree about bringing Spence back as I said earlier it’s just the idea that Spence can play centre back and Dijksteel should be tried in midfield I disagree with. No brainer that He should be brought back though
 
I met up with a couple of Forest fan mates yesterday and they all said thanks for getting Chris Hughton sacked and for sending Spence on loan as he has been a massive part of their revival.

If we recalled him I can only guess it's to force Forest to cough up for him ( 4 million maybe ) and if they won't, then to take away one of their best performing players over the last three months from a potential play off contender.
 
I was on a couple of Forrest forums last night and they clearly regard him as one of the - if not the - key players in their squad.
He currently has one goal for them and no assists.

The only thing about bringing him back is that his value is at its peak right now, if we bring him back and he can’t get a look in does it tank his value?

I would have snapped someone’s hand off for 5m in the summer but the way people are going on about him I reckon we could get more than that from a Premier League club.

Yeah that’s the thing. But the other way to look at is he’s had rumoured interest for a long time but no one has ever bid for him. Will that change? Who knows. For me it’s worth bringing him back purely to weaken a rival. If someone bids for him and makes an offer we can’t refuse then obviously we sell.
