It was green energy. I updated. Sorry for the panic
I'd edit the original post else you'll have people doing this all week lol
Quite lucky in that I shop around constantly for energy so always been on the cheapest deal, yet somehow so far have managed to avoid having a firm go bust on me. Currently with Outfox the Market but fixed rate expires Feb 20th, annoying as did consider a 3 year fix last year but decided against it! Oh well.
Will ride out the variable rate and see what happens.
On a fixed price with Scottish Power at moment and price is ok. Think it might expire some time this year though. Bought a new build with solar panels, I dont know how much they save us though. Even builders when we moved it said they knew nothing about them. They are just there, lol.
Worth looking into as I think your tariff has to support it for you to get the benefit?
Some houses have the ones that heat hot water.
Not at all.
It is a way of providing affordability, security and reliability of energy in this country.
Stretching the COP targets will provide time to find better sustainable options down the line.
We saw how useful turbines were last year when the wind didn’t blow enough…..
Thats why you need diverse renewable sources. You're unlikely to have days where the wind doesnt blow enough, the sun doesnt shine enough and there isnt enough rainfall all at once, but will probably need something available for peak capacity such as nuclear.
Scrap the vat rise , & this nonsense subsidising green energy which is far more expesive then bulding nuclear power plants , all these windmills etc do not work & are subsidised to lhell just to make us look green ....nuclear is the future , sooner we grasp it the better , Rolls Royce are the experts, let them do their thing & get independant powerwise ?
They obviously do work as it provides 25% of UK Power
Fracking often damages the water supply, methane is partly soluable in water isn't it?
We could do so much more renewable as well as mini nuclear reactors - shortage of energy is a recent problem but needs long term planning and investment.
Energy conservation is still fairly poor in this country
How many on here
Do not have 150mm loft insulation?
Do not have wall insulation but could have?
Wash their clothes above 30 degress centrigrade
Have a boiler over 15 years old?
Live in a draughty property?
Heat little used rooms?
Have a fridge over 10 years old?
Do not have LED lights in all their property?
Loft insulation is cheap or free if on benefits but can cost decent wedge to get done for a good sized house. wall insulation not suitable for all properties. Washing clothes above 30 is sometimes required, and most washing machines generally have standard 30C cycles anyway now. Replacing a boiler can be an expensive project again if youre not on benefits. Drafty properties can be cheaply resolved in some cases, in others it can be expensive depending on the cause. LED lights can help but depends which ones you buy as some are expensive or dont work well.
Ultimately buying a new fridge, boiler, loft insulation and a full suite of LED lights will save you money but probably some years for you to make any actual savings so depends how much money people have laid around.
My brain hurts but this will help somewhat won’t it?…
If I give bigger numbers on my meter readings over the remaining term on my deal, then when the standard rate kicks in I’ll have already ‘used/paid’ for some of it at the cheaper rate so will save some money (for a short period)? Only risk I can see is if someone comes and reads my meter in the meantime?
they still do manual meter reads just less often. If you suddenly submit a massive reading just before a tariff change that's likely to trigger a threshold for a manual check. If you're on a smart meter they can read them remotely
