England fans don't deserve to ever win a tournament.

After the vile and disgusting racist reaction to the penalties, I hope England never even get close to winning anything. The supporters are scum and deserve nothing but the harshest punishment.
Aside from tarring all England supporters with the same brush, you also hope that Sancho, Saka and Rashford (as well as Sterling, Walker, Bellingham, Greenwood, etc) never get close to winning anything at international level. So on top of the vile abuse they have received, you are now wishing ill on these players when they represent their country?

Are you sure you have thought this through? (I'm sure you haven't as thinking requires brain cells).

I understand your anger.
But you are venting it at the wrong people.
Some racists watch the football but I wouldn't call them supporters.
Just the opposite in fact.
Racists judge a man by the colour of their skin.
A real supporter judges those black and white englishmen by the character they showed in standing up and taking a penalty.
Hearts of lions every one of them.
Please don't accuse me of being a criminal just because I like the football.

How dare you label the vast majority, including myself and family as scum. Every football team (national/international) has a very unsavoury element as part of their "following" and I, for 1, don't even relate to them as fans. As Harry Kane has tweeted today about the racist abuse "they aren't England fans, and we don't want them"

The OP must presume Italy is a bastion of anti-racism and diversity then :ROFLMAO: what a reactionary thicko.
Yep with their Ultras and history of fascism. Italy has lots going for it but let's not pretend it also haven't got problems.

“For decades, Black soccer superstars such as George Weah, Paul Pogba and Samuel Eto’o have plied their trade in Italy. Yet there were at least 20 major cases of anti-Black racism in Italian soccer — including monkey chants by fans — since the start of 2019, according to the Fare network, which fights discrimination in the sport. That’s the most of any major European league.”

There was once a prime minister and government who believed in such sweeping generalisations about football fans. ALL fans were hooligans. Fans were to carry ID cards. Fans were to be herded around like cattle. Fans were to be securely fenced in behind fences topped with razor wire........................................then 96 of them died. 😡

There's no need to get indignant here folks; the OP was sounding off and I think that's clear. He's ashamed, as many of us are, that supporting England (or Boro for that matter) means somehow you are included in a subset with people you would cross the street to avoid: neanderthal racist scum.

I wanted us to win last night, of course, but there was definitely a big part of me that was unsure whether I could really stomach the orgy of jingoism it would have unleashed, the licence it would give to those who forever trumpet this myth of national exceptionalism, of Britain being 'Great', of our history being a source of unalloyed pride instead of one which properly provokes deeply ambivalent feelings. As much as I love Southgate and his team, could I stomach to listen to the Tory politicians who would piggyback on the England players' success to keep on 'stoking the flames' as Tyrone Mings put it in his eloquent slapping down of the loathsome Priti Patel?

Undoubtedly most of Europe - not to mention Scotland and Ireland - and indeed quite a lot of our own compatriots, wanted us to lose last night, and instead of kidding ourselves it's out of some burning sense of envy, we need to genuinely examine why that might be.

We have one of the biggest followings at international level, so just by shear size of our fan base we will have more hoolies than most. When you add in the dynamics of our current toxic nationalistic and xenophobic political culture and the frustrations of lockdown and it was a powderkeg situation. The vast majority of England fans don't want anything to do with these morons and I hope as many of the racists and the violent idiots and the people that stormed the stadium get their comeuppance.

Spot on.

As well as the out and out vile racists, social media also has a bizarre breed of trolls that jump on any issue to stir up trouble… I saw one on twitter today spouting off, looked at the bio and it had EDL, conservative etc. Yet a brief skim back through brought up tweets in Arabic script and different topics, certainly not from the current tattooed white guy in the profile. Very odd people out there and Twitter quickly becomes a cesspool in these situations when bigot and troll come out in force.

I agree with the vast majority of that but can't accept the part of Scotland. They've pathological hatred of English sporting teams is something else. They claim they hate the football team because of the media, but hate the rugby team because of arrogance.

They seem no irony in following English clubs and all Rangers fans idolise Steven Gerrard! There's also thousands of English living in Scotland and likewise Scots in England. Their behaviour is borderline xenophobic when it comes to sport.

I'm not a new user or a troll, and I will apologise for sounding like I'm calling all England fans scum, I'm not. I'm talking about the ones who racially abuse their own players, or storm into the stadium with out tickets, or abuse Danish families on a bus, or trash city centres, or get into running battles with police, or running battles with other fans when abroad, or burn random German cars after semifinals, or just generally cause trouble at EVERY tournament there is. And I stand by my statement that we don't deserve to win a tournament. In fact we don't deserve to take part in them.

I've actually found during this tournament that the Irishs' hatred for the English team is even greater than the Scots which has surprised me, although it appears to be for political reasons.

I was on a football fan page on Facebook after the game the other night, having a bit of banter and this was one of the replies I received. Pure hatred and bigotry.....

"If we are not in it, then yeah the best next thing would be to support any country that plays you colonialists for obvious reasons."

"Never winning is probably karma for all the blood on your racist, oppressive hands"

I completely get that and those involved are low life scumbags. Just look at the news breaking about Lando Norris - mugged on his way out of Wembley. It's shocking.

For a bit if perspective though. I've been to England games with my son in the last three years. Not once have I witnessed drunken aggressive behaviour, booing of anthems or people causing chaos.

The FA has worked hard over the years trying to identify the hooligan element and ban them from games. Having seen England go to several tournaments relatively trouble free it was probably thought to be dealt with. It clearly hasn't as the minority have again tarnished the vast majority of good English people.

The Scots are definitely just as bad. I must say not all of them as I do know a few who don't buy into the myth they rest they all emotionally adhere to.
