Feeling more and more optimistic

I'm fairly cool about how the season pans out - a win on Wednesday makes it interesting, a draw or defeat pretty much makes it bloody difficult to get that second spot. As long as we turn up, play as well as we can......let's see. 👍

I can’t say I’m all that confident, away performances at Burnley, Sunderland and Blackburn until they went down to 10 men are a huge worry, feel like we may get another game like that, don’t feel we are quite at their level just yet

If we do manage to win it puts huge, huge pressure on them

If we manage to win this game, the doubt begins to sink into the minds of Sheffield United regardless of if they've got a game in hand. They're already talking this up way more than we are, they're pretty nervous I think, they can pretty much sow up promotion on Wednesday, they may be a little cautious.
They've got some very tough games coming up, we do to, we have West Brom but if we can beat this lot, I fear no one. I fancy Burnley might see ourselves and Sheffield United as their last two games that they NEED to win aswell

I don't think it's over the top to say that if Sheff Utd win on Wednesday they are up. They'll be well up for it, so it's going to be a really difficult game.

I'm still looking down more than I am looking up to be honest. We saw for ourselves last season how easy it is to be in a great position and then drop out of the play-offs after a couple of bad results.

With that in mind, I'll actually say now that a draw on Wednesday would be a good result.

We can't catch them.

They can allow themselves to be caught, but only if teams below then keep their form up.

Not much point focusing on much else to be honest.

I take a draw tomorrow, it doesn't immediately help us but I'm going to take a sit back and wait attitude until their matches have played out in the rest of Feb and March. If we lose then we be looking over our shoulder, draw then we are hoping they will falter down the way and they could with their matches coming up, if we win well we will go from DEfCON level three excitement/buzz to DEFCON 2 and the clamour for tickets will start to get to stupid levels.

If we can close the gap by three points in February. another three points in March.. then three in April..

imagine going into the last game in May just one point behind, with them having to play away.

Let's be honest there 10 pts in front of us with a game in hand, they have only lost 5 games in 30, even if we beat them on Wed (and I think we might) it's still 7pts behind, plus a game in hand, plus better goal difference swing of 13, it would take a massive drop of form from them, for us to catch them.

Our aim has to be keeping our place within the playoffs, 3rd or 4th place would give us a home advantage on the 2nd leg.
We can beat any of the teams below us in this league.

Yep second is gone. It would take a supreme bottle job from them. They'd have to revert to form from 18 months ago which without catastrophic injuries won't happen. And we would have to win every game which we won't do.

Ref Sunderland game - even though we were subdued in the first half - We would have got something without the pen/sending off.
When Archer came one we were the better team with only 10 men.

I agree Burnley were step above us and exploited a couple of our defensive weaknesses.
