Finn Azaz

It’s exactly complex, but none of us have enough information to know what the club can afford in cash or on the books. For all we know Villa are demanding full fee upfront, but we’re actually not due any money from Tav, Spence or Akpom until the summer - however unlikely that may be.
speculation pure and simple. I trust our executive to make sure we have the cash to deliver a RB, CB and CF without needing any unnecessary sales, more than I trust speculative punts on the clubs financial status. If it's cash flow you are worried about we've got two windfall games coming up against Chelsea and Villa that'll with global TV rights and semi-final prize money will likely pay for half an Azaz.

How many young players have Villa nicked off West Brom?!
A lass i went to school with has a son who switched from West Brom to Villa in 2022 He's just signed a pro contract with their under 18s. I imagine it happens quite a lot that players switch between the 2 clubs as you would assume villa would have a bigger budget for their youth squads.

West Brom must be gutted. All these young players leaving for Villa. Imagine if Newcastle or Sunderland did that regularly to us. We'd be up in arms.

I would love to see a midfield 3

Azaz. Hackney
O’brien

know its not how we play but it would surely provide some cover for the defence whilst still having some attacking dynamism.

Sam Greenwood as a striker..
I think greenwood is definitely more suited to a central role, however, I'm not sure he works hard enough to be our lone striker in a Carrick system, although that could be forgiven if he was banging the goals in I suppose

Apologies Cress. Just opened a transfer rumours thread and realized they`de already been posted up all over the board

I'd be interested in Crooks being rotated into the deeper 2 positions. His physicality could be interesting in their also more physical presence on crosses.

His tackling/passing could be a liability
Agree on that last bit. His passing is way too careless for the way we have the two CMs playing.

He was a useful Swiss army knife type back end of last season, happy for him to stay for that role.

Oh I totally agree, I think there’s next to no chance we can’t afford this deal, I’m just pointing out that it’s a not a 0% chance.

Unfortunately the two cup games won’t really bring in that much.

EFL Cup prize money - £50k for getting to a semi final. FA Cup prize money - £105K if you win the third round game. Gate receipts are split for weighted towards away teams and potentially there won’t be sell out crowds. There will be a couple of extra £100k for being televised, but in the scheme of things it’s barely 20% of a £2.5m fee, let alone wages

Arglye will be gutted, he has been an instrumental player for them.
I've watched most of his games at Home Park and saw him again on Saturday. He is certainly a great player, loads of potential to improve further and he seems like a sensible lad (non of that Pally F*nny nonsense).

Great signing if we can pull it off (oh err!)

I understand we get 45% of the gate for both games so that will bring in aorund 1 million and thats being conservative

Total ball park:

We get 45% of the away match at Chelsea. 40K @ £25 = 1mill, so that's 450k
Home leg, 25k @ £20 = 500k, so 275k
Villa add another 275k

That works out at a mill, before any TV revenue.

None of this is budgeted for in our projection for the year, as I read a couple of years ago that we assume a first round knockout away from home in cups, we are conservative with our budget projections.
