But it is, how long have you been under this misapprehension?I'm British and it's still not mine.

You paint the picture as if they spent their lives laid down being fanned by banana leaves and grapes dropped into their mouths. It’s comical, like the Beano crossed with the Morning Star.Of course it isn’t. There are only so many ribbons you can cut in a day regardless how many people exist in the country.
That about covers the population size difference and respective wealth of UK and Denmark though doesn’t it. Proportionality and perspective is key.
The total budget for the Irish president's office in around €5m I believe. The fact is we’d have to have another head of state who’d cost just as much if not more, with far more political ties and the power to wield them. You can’t just wipe the slate clean I’m afraid. The money argument doesn’t consider the alternative.
Again only serving 5 million people. Insignificant number in comparison with the UK let alone the Commonwealth. The total budget for the Irish president's office in around €5m I believe.
the pish take in this country, no monarch in Europe receives anywhere close, is down to ignorance of the electorate.
How much is that per tax payer and is it more or less than what our monarchy receives per tax payer? How much does the Irish president bring into the country with tourism etc? How much does our monarchy bring in?The total budget for the Irish president's office in around €5m I believe.

Oh do tell me what they fill their days with…..you paint the picture that they are grafting down t’pit? Or 14 hour shift at the hospital? Stressful Back-to-back-to-back strategic meetings to save the company and keep people in employment? What exactly are their days like. It’s pretty close to what I posted according to their diaries which are published (and probably highly exaggerated for affect)You paint the picture as if they spent their lives laid down being fanned by banana leaves and grapes dropped into their mouths. Why the obsession with ‘pet tax payer’? Because it sounds less than 350mHow much is that per tax payer and is it more or less than what our monarchy receives per tax payer? How much does the Irish president bring into the country with tourism etc? How much does our monarchy bring in?
No just asking the question, per head is a good way of working budgets out.Why the obsession with ‘pet tax payer’? Because it sounds less than 350m
It doesn't matter how big the population is. Let's be honest, they have nothing to do with 99.9% of us.Again only serving 5 million people. Insignificant number in comparison with the UK let alone the Commonwealth.
Piffle- especially when considering the millions watching the coronation. The queue for the queens coffin went back 30 hours for heavens sake.It doesn't matter how big the population is. Let's be honest, they have nothing to do with 99.9% of us.
It's not a good way to define value though. No just asking the question, per head is a good way of working budgets out.
These were one off generational events. 99.9% of the time they have zero direct daily influence with 99.9% of us. It's behind the scenes where they impact usPiffle- especially when considering the millions watching the coronation. The queue for the queens coffin went back 30 hours for heavens sake.
People turning up to look at them go past, dead or alive, doesn't mean that they have nothing to do with 99.9% of the population. It means people, like yourself perhaps, are in awe of them for some reason unknown to many others.Piffle- especially when considering the millions watching the coronation. The queue for the queens coffin went back 30 hours for heavens sake.
