Great news Roberts coming back

Not sure he is what we need. Don't totally dislike him but he does not release the ball early enough, shooting is poor, bit of a dicky dancer. We certainly need something but whether its him we shall see.

I read with interest, and between the lines maybe, that Roberts might be the other 'forward' that we bring in. Neil said something about having enough target men with the three up front. Whilst being chuffed with Roberts I still think we need another striker.

He's better and different to what we have. He wouldn't need all this 'getting used to a new country or league' pish.

He could come straight in and do a job after a couple of weeks international breaks training.

I thought he was developing a good link up with Fletcher last season. Also gonna be good for 2-3 pens as he goes down easy😂👍

i think he has talent but he does tend to do too much himself, with time warnock will get him to optimise his skills in the right areas and improve him as a player

I`d agree but there was times he dwelt on it way to long, he hasnt anything to prove in the beat 4 men stakes its the movement and killer pass we need. He can do it, just needs a bat around the ears.
I think that's the sort of thing that comes with playing more games against better opposition. He may not have been as productive as he might have been in his spell here but he was certainly worth watching like Traore was. Sign him on.

Where does he play? As one of the midfield three? Instead of a forward? As a number 10 at the head of a diamond? He can't really play on the wing in the current set-up can he?

I would play him behind a front 2 with 2 holding midfielders behind him.

the way Warnock is talking, though, he will stick with 3 grafters in midfield and Roberts will be one of 4 forwards competing for a place in the front 2 👎🏻

Probably in the role Tav has occupied and offered nothing so far. Don’t mind Tav but he has to play out wide.

Maybe Roberts dwelling on the ball is because he’d barely had a kick all season before signing with us and then he got injured, takes awhile to get fitness and sharpness. Thought he instantly made us more dangerous going forward though. Personally I think he’s perfect playing behind the striker, running at defences and getting them to commit/drag out of position plus those tricky feet will win penalties. Hopefully with Akpom holding it up he should get more goals too coming in from deeper areas. Really pleased if this comes off. Think he will link everything up especially with Morsy behind him too. We will definitely be able to play through the middle but need to get Spence and Johnson bombing forward again.

Would like another CB and RB too.

He was the one I personally wanted back this season. He can take people on and create chances and, has been mentioned earlier, wins penalties and free kicks. At his age he can only get better. Only doubt is his injury record.

Brilliant news. It will be interesting to see where Warnock will play him. Gives us the option of playing with wingers, and potentially having Roberts wide right and Browne/Tav wide left.

I think I'd like to see him playing as a no10 though. I think part of the problem when he plays wide right is he doesn't always have players around him who he can link with. He can find himself quite isolated and feels he has to dribble with the ball to get himself out of situations. If he's playing through the middle he may find he can play that quick one-two with a team-mate to create some space for himself.

Id like to see him played in the middle behind the front two, i agree he held on to the ball far to long at times last season though

With the consistency of our present coaching / mangement staff and with the right handling, we could nurture this young man into a footballing genius.
Hes been here there and everybluddy where.
Hes still a young man and needs positive firm leadership.
Hes definitely got what it takes.

Nonsense, we played two relegated sides and we didn't create much as a team, last game he put the winner on a plate for Britt who fluffed his lines. He can't do much more creativity than the ball to the back stick and just the keeper to beat.

I don’t know what fitness level Roberts is at currently, but I wouldn’t have thought Pep Guardiola would stand for any slacking from any of his players.
However, if the signing does go through he has the international break to get up to speed.
To be truthful, I don’t see Roberts as a full 90 minute man anyway.

If he does the bizz for an hour or so with a couple of killer passes he could be replaced late on to seal the game defensively.
