Im getting the feeling Jones may be one of the big surprises. If we have a big offer already. it may set up the funds for some good incoming players.
Jones has just been off his game last 2 months

Yes he was ok today but we got over ran and bullied its his job to control and protect the defence which we did neither. He should have got hold of crooks and mcgree and made us harder to breakdown but hes not a captain. Another reason we need a better player. Leadbitter he is not.

If he can't do the job of three men he's not good enough. Zzzzz. You have 11 men on the pitch for a reason. Put Grant in this team in his prime and you wouldn't see much difference.

BUT i would agree that we haven't had a proper leader since Grant. (Except Bamba, but he's right at the end now) That shouldn't be a stick to beat Howson with.

It's actually the job of the 7 players in front of the defence to protect them, Howson is the last line of defence. If they've reached Howson it means the ones in front of him haven't done their job.

He's been first class this season, the way he reads the game, shows for the ball (he's the one player who never hides), drives us forward and tries to take the game by the scruff of the neck. I'll give you he's not a leader in the same way Grant was but he's a hell of a lot better footballer.
 
Definitely deserves a one year extension at least but I hope we sign a defensive midfielder in the summer. That way we can hopefully manage Howson better and give him the odd rest if needed.

I feel the sheer amount of games he's played this season has caught up with him.

They are adjectives.

With regards to Howson, he’s decent enough but no spring chicken. It feels like the time to wish the bloke well and replace him. He’s being linked with clubs like Wigan and that seems like a fair reflection of his expected standard next year.
 
He's [Howson] at that age where he'd probably not get a matching offer from other teams so perhaps he'll stay but I'm sure he'll be a bit part player next season as CW aims to overhaul the midfield with strength [similar ilk to John Lunstram] and perhaps a proper playmaker such as John Swift. Let's face it we've not been at the races on away turf for a while so we need players who can battle, win tackles and stay on their feet-- today's loss magnified that lack of strength in the side. Defensively we're short also especially on the left where we've been badly exposed, although it's fair to say we perhaps lack that DM which would give a better feel to the way we defend. Up top mind is an absolute joke so you'd think CW will have easy time improving on what we currently have or should I say don't have!

Spot on ,goal was totally down to Jones being naive at best & downright dumb not backing howson up inside .....he has been poor since the publicity earlier too , needs to find another ball than the low pass he always plays inside . Teams need the Howsons & Sols around the place too
