If Pence has long term presidential aspirations he could play a blinder.

Whip the republicans into Order and get the election validated quickly. Invoke the 25th Amendment and preside over a smooth transition and ensure law and order across America.
 
I'm sure that reality has dawned on the GOP that they simply can't control Trumps base unless they go full-on Trump. They've stood by, cowering while Trump tried his best to destroy American democracy and now their biggest voting block is out of control and beyond their grasp. The GOP will split now and I can't say I'm sad at all. Once they started to entertain the Tea Party lunacy was the day they started to poison themselves.

He is a religious extremist is he not? A believer of the massive churches and their super wealthy, opportunistic, charlatans. It's another cabal that is rich beyond the ken of mortal men and not at all interested in the poor or vulnerable.

Pence himself is a Christian fascist, with all the outward appeal of a gutted fish and the stage and verbal presence of a stick.

Don't believe he has it in him.
 
The Senate hasn't debated the objection, just gone straight to the vote and are thankfully voting No with a few notable exceptions such as Ted Cruz and Hawley.
 
The emperors new clothes are finally being truly remarked upon by his aides and hangers on . It’s sad for the US constitution it’s taken a scenario with an almost Hitler like end of a tyranny to manifest itself . I only hope Trump crawls into a bunker in Washington and does the decent thing like Hitler did in Berlin ( not that he’d know what the decent thing is ) .

The US people must now ask themselves “ how the hell did we let such a deluded , dangerous egomaniac get to the top of a world super power “ ?

I thought that when watching it. It looked about 6 security staff at an open door trying to hold back the mob then retreating and allowing them in. But why open the doors in the first place?
 
Watched Newsnight last night where they interviewed a Republican woman (previously worked on Ted Cruz's staff). She condemned what had gone on and also Trump's part in it (she accepted he'd lost fair and square) but at the end of the interview when asked about the loss of the Senate to the Democrats she said she was disappointed because now Joe Biden could press ahead with his 'radical socialist' policies.
JUST STOP!! This nonsense, as much as the stolen election rubbish, is what is energising Trump's supporters. I very, very much doubt there's a 'radical socialist' anywhere near any branch of the US government let alone Joe Biden and his allies.
 
It's just the way the American political compass is skewed. It's quite a right wing country so what to us is a centrist moderate to them is a raving leftie
