I think we as fans have to bite the bullet and just go with wilders vision

The problem starts when you havent got any assets to sell. Spence was a lottery win .. him and coulson came into the 1st team picture at same time look whats happened there.

Gibson was always sellable, Traore went for big profit but for those players theres also your George Saville and Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher who we paid out big for with little or no return.

Weve always been a selling club .. Pallister, Ripley, Mowbray, Kernaghan most replaced with players who cost a fraction of what we sold on for (Coleman/Wright/Vickers)

We sold Juninho for 12m and replaced him with the Magic Man for £5m

First team starting XI with first team subs some very talented academy players that are almost certain to feature in some capacity this season.
Not according to Wilder earlier in the summer. He quite clearly said he doesn't expect any academy players to feature this season.

And personally I would say the Magic mans contribution was far better than that of Juninho, Merson was an absolute class act and all round superb footballer that promotion year no matter how he left!

And I love Juninho too, I just thought at thw time Merson delivered when we needed it.

I was a little shocked earlier this week with news of poss out going etc but I think we all now have to put any issues aside realise wilder is going to change us dramatically to the team and squad we had the last few seasons and just go with it

This is his vision so let’s trust in the manager and see where it takes us.
Wilder has already got a lot of what he was after. A new keeper, a leader at the back, a new left sided player to balance us up, and a striker (although prob not his first choice and will want more). Plus he got McGree last January. I think he'll be keen to see additions obviously, and may be slightly nervous of the current squad depth, but there's no suggestion that his vision isn't being catered for, as many seem to suggest.

Because the first game of the season is tomorrow, and we have a bench full of kids against a strong Championship side.
Yes, but that doesn't really answer my question. Why do you think we won't spend any money and try to sign some more players?

We're obviously trying to sign players, and CW has said where we are with them - specifically that we have some ready to go, just waiting for their clubs to get replacements sorted. Frustrating? Of course... but not sure what else you want them to do? We could have gone and forced a transfer through by spending more than we'd like on a player we don't necessarily want - but why would we do that?

Tav happened at an unfortunate time, but there's no sense in keeping him if he wants to go. Cash in and move on. This is a short-term problem and we need long-term solutions.

It should be a consensus view between Owner, Recruitment people and Manager and is constrained by the Club's budget. The club has to live within its means.

The club isn't living within its means. This is the key issue facing the club in the future. Championship football means limited revenue and big financial losses. Promotion would bring more revenue but necessarily much higher expenses. If the club gets it wrong it's a recipe for disaster.

Not sure Wilders vision will be anything like the reality- however I doubt we will ever know until it’s autobiography time!!

Think he also expected 5-6 more signings through the door, so he may not have a choice for the next few games. Certainly hope September onwards we don't need to rely on having the academy players packing the first team matchday squad out.

No problem with Wilder - the problem is that it appears he doesn't have full control over the transfer policy. We will get 25m for Spence and Tav but will that be reinvested into the team?
Some of it will be - up to maybe half that figure, but we don’t have the finical clout to spend big now

I'm sure they will try. But I think it's only fair to doubt whether they will succeed. There are 8 fixtures before August 31st. A bad start would be self-inflicted by lack of attacking signings/CMs.
Remember the recruitment team pinned our hopes on Balogun and Connolly last season rather than proven scorers.

As opposed to what, ringing up Gibson and getting him to let us have a dabble at this management lark ?

Yea but I think that's a different discussion - it seemed like a noticeable number of people thought we were just going to keep hold of the money and not bring anyone in. We may not bring in any more signings, of course it's a possibility. But if that happens I suspect it'll be because the right person wasn't available at the right price, and nothing else

Do you think Gibson will plough it into golden toilet roll holders ?
He’s not exactly in the club for profit . We need to be patient until the window shuts and judge it then

I’d start Akpom over Coburn but apart from that the side picks itself
