I'm not being negative, he's been great this year but I can't get away from thinking he's going to be a one season wonder. Will he carry his prolific form into next season. My view is if Carrick is the manager made for each other.

Obviously I hope I'm wrong

His link-up play, holding onto the ball etc won't change though, you don't just have that one year and then lose it the next.
£10m won't be anywhere near enough, £20m more likely, but depends on the contract of course. If someone offered us anywhere near the region of 10m we'd be silly not to have a serious think about it. The lad has ben a revelation this season but i fear for next year and his ability to continue but its early days and Carrick might have some big plans for how we play, players he wants etc
I don't think many will have reservations about the ability, and 28 goals isn't a fluke, it's just whether that ability can come out at another club/ under a different manager. The no 10 position is a key one for any team in the prem or that level, if you get that wrong you're finished.Yep this.
Unlikely he'll score as many next year. But as long as the team scores enough goals, it doesn't really matter. 15 would still be a great return if we're scoring 80+ as a group.
One of the reasons I think there's a very good chance he'll stay is that other clubs will have the same reservations about whether he can do it again. They'll be looking at him, but at 28 is he really that attractive a prospect to spend a huge fee on?

Some on here had similar reservations about Gyokeres last year, but after seeing him absolutely destroy us last year, and do the same to other teams he was never going to be a gamble at 10-15m. We would probably have won the league had we bought him. I can't see him staying at Coventry or tying himself to them on a long contract, he's a top half prem player and Cov ain't ever getting there.
It's not so much the goals, they can come and go, but the ability on the ball and attributes, which don't really change.
If he got 20+ that’s still another remarkable season.Unlikely, he'll still be a decent player, but I can't see him getting anywhere near the same amount of goals.
I know, but I just can't see him getting anywhere near 20+ goals. I'd obviously like him too, but think it'll be more around the 10-15 which is still a fantastic return. If he got 20+ that’s still another remarkable season.
I can’t see it happening though unless he agrees a new contract. And that will largely depend on who else is willing to make him an offer this summer.
Me too, I’ve already made my peace with him leaving.I know, but I just can't see him getting anywhere near 20+ goals. I'd obviously like him too, but think it'll be more around the 10-15 which is still a fantastic return.
Likewise, I think he'll be away. I just hope we get decent money for him.
