If Engel plays on Saturday i think he'll get absolutely tortured

You might be right, but the lad deserves another shot after his showing beyond the first half hour on tuesday. He did play very well in that second half.
Giles was awful defensively, so if Engel can contribute like he did second half then that will be a big step forward from his first appearances.
 
He did look a completely different plqyer when he got confidence 2nd half. He might hopefully feel good now and perform like he's good enough for this level
 
I think if Rav is back he might play left back. BUT Engel deserves to keep his place and there is absolutely no reason he couldn't cope defensively. We're basing his defensive acumen on 45 minutes when the whole team was equally as bad. We don't know what's gonna happen, just gotta have faith and trust
 
It's not the end of the world if we lose this one really, I'll not lose much sleep over it. We are only just starting to click after losing the best we had last season and Sunderland have been in good nick from the start. If we compete relatively well on Saturday I'll be happy, and hopefully we will meet them at The Riverside under much different circumstances.

Think he just rewarded him for playing well. I don’t believe there’s 1 fan who thinks that Has 100 percent confidence that Engel is gonna just play well every game now and is the real deal. We all know there’s work still to be done especially defensively

Have a worry that he will be left on his own against Ba/Clarke/Roberts......McGree's game is not getting back helping his LB unfortunately.
 
Im actually more worried about Smith, dont get me wrong I like him he is a good solid pro but as I have said before we should of probably upgraded at rb.

Smith wont have the pace to keep Clarke quiet and if I was a betting man i would be putting Smith down for a yellow card at some point

Fair points, but at least Jones does help the RB out.

But agree that Smith and Engel could be in for a bit of a torrid afternoon unless we get on top.
