Im not a Police hater by any means, but.....

Holy cow, has anybody else seen this....

It was all over social media yesterday.
Many saying the young lad should have just given them his name (although legally he doesn't have to) and nothing would have come of it. Maybe the young lad has been 'profiled' before and was annoyed it was only him getting stopped even though there were many others in the same area he was walking in.

The copper was well out of line which the police force has admitted and said sorry for.
His colleague should have intervened yet didn't and just stood there trying to stop a smirk breaking out across her face.

Also yet more flaunting of mask rules from those who are supposed to enforce it and a a complete lack of social distancing even with the young lad trying to move away (admittedly probably trying to get a rise out of the copper).

Seen this yesterday, awful to watch.
Likely the lad was trying to get a rise out of the copper, but as said above good chance he might have been profiled before and wanted to make a (fair) point.
He could have probably given his name and walked away more easily, but the way the police office reacts and speaks to him is pretty disgusting. Abuse of power.

Not sure how the lad is trying to get a rise by stating he was getting too close. Blatant profiling because he was a young lad in a tracksuit. The woman police officer doesn't come out of this looking any better either just idly standing by whilst he shouts his mouth off for no reason.

Don't see how anyone watches the video and comes to the conclusion the lads tried to get a rise out of the police. Mad to think we're a year and a 100k deaths in to the pandemic and people would think you'd only socially distance to be awkward.

Why doesnt he just provide his details.......why be confrontational.

I dont get stopped a lot but have been stopped several times by the police..............just give your details, have a chat and move on.

Does he behave like that an airport when asked for his passport...............

There is a pandemic on, everyone is complaining that there are too many people out and about and police need to be tougher, then when they try to be tougher we all cry like little babies.

Why are Police stopping people walking down the road in the first place?

Dispense large gatherings - yes.

One bloke walking down the road to work during daylight hours - what is there to gain?

Yet you report a proper crime, and they don't turn up for days - if at all.

He doesn't provide his details because he doesn't have to.

At passport control you need to show your passport to get to where you're going. He was on his way to work and could have easily got there without any police interference. Instead he gets harassed by a little bully in a uniform.

Just to be clear, the lad does NOT have to stop and does NOT have to answer the copper's questions.

" The government's website says police might stop members of the public to ask their name, their purpose in the area and where they are going, but people do not have to stop or answer".

I also wonder what version of events would have been believed, or what action would/would not have been taken if this confrontation had not been recorded.

This idiot copper has instantly made the job of every decent copper even more difficult than it was before.

Nothing new this has been going on for years. I'll bet everyone knows someone that something like this has happened to. Here is a slightly different thing that happened to me.

Years ago we were having a drink in the Princess Alice as part of a pre match pub crawl before going to game against Man C. Police came pilling in and a sniffer dog the had came straight to me and started yapping. I was taken outside and searched and what it had picked up was my Asthma inhaler. I had no drugs and have never done drugs. Police said they were after a gang they had followed from Manchester and while under pretence of a drugs raid three officers went straight for the ones they were watching. They eventually got them in the toilets trying to get rid of stuff. Anyway I digress. I asked why I had been picked out and was told the dog they were using was its first case so it may just have been its lack of experience. However they would not let me go without getting what I take was a warning. I had to sign to say I had been identified and picked out on suspicion of carrying unknown substances during a drugs raid, or something to that effect. If I didn't sign I would have been taken in to custody(they had mobile cells outside parked opposite Sainsburys) and would miss the match. Reluctantly I signed it and went to the match. When I saw my mother after the match she went apeshit with me for signing saying that will be on your record now.

Had we been playing someone other than City I might not have signed but we always beat City. :)

There’s plenty of videos like this on social media..

I can forgive some instances where the copper is put under undue stress of a situation but some come across as complete bell ends...
