the club dont make them
But they are the customer and will have had control over terms of any commercial contract when they changed manufacturer. They could easily have specified what dates they wanted new kits ready by.
To say it's just down to the supplier is saying the club has no control, which simply isn't true. I can't believe the kit manufacturer has all the power in these relationships.
Now maybe by accepting it's only going to be available late into the summer means the club got a better deal of course. But it's still something the club can control and has made a decision on.
They've missed out on summer holiday rush, they've missed out on father's Day. Last year they missed out on all of that, plus Christmas, plus any other sales given there actually weren't enough shirts to meet demand.
Maybe it doesn't matter too much in the grand scheme of things but it does comes across as really amateur.
The lack of kids shirts in particular I think is pretty short sighted. You want to hook the next generation and for kids football shirts are a big deal.
I wonder how many wanted a Boro shirt, couldn't get one, so pestered mum and dad for a Liverpool, man city shirt etc instead?
It's poor.
