We do need a natural centre forward

Looking at the overall market value of all players in the Swiss league it's better than League One but not as good as championship.

Their top side Young Boys has a value of 71m euro about the same as Watford. The worst team is about 7m around the same as Charlton or Wigan.

Average team in Swiss League is 23m, about the same Huddersfield.

I guess he has proven that he can score against bottom end championship sides.

It sounds where we need to go fishing for new purchases - if the average Swiss team is Huddersfield is not a long way below Championship level. Back in 2006 I would have put Basel as a lower Premier League side. They beat us 2-0 in the first leg and we really were a top half Premier League side then.

UEFA co-efficient, presumably? The Swiss league is roughly on a par with the Scottish Premier League maybe? And bar Celtic and Rangers, that’s a League One level league IMO. Lots of players in that league move there from third and fourth tier English sides.

Who’s scoffing? And Cedric Itten is second on that list, who struggled to score for Rangers. Moving from the Swiss league to the Championship is a step up for any player.

Eh

I didn’t “work it out”, I looked at Transfermarkt.com which tells you the market value of the entire league and each individual team. I simply looked at the best and worst and average values and compared it to the EFL.

I didn’t say “no better than Huddersfield” either. I said the average squad value was “about the same as Huddersfield”. Which according to Transfermarkt.com, it is.

If there is any belittling then it’s the people that complie the data in Transfermarkt.com.

Problem we have is that we are not going to get an established striker from a "decent" European league for just over £4m.

We either gamble on a lower league striker or look abroad......and keep our fingers crossed
