Mass Gatherings wtf?

Anyone can be guilty of either. Just had a guy on that post tell me he has 2 post doctorate degrees and worked at Nasa for 20+ years while I'm in a failed marriage, drunk every night and addicted to football so dont know what I am talking about. I looked at his website from his profile before he blocked me and he has been busking round Europe and doing Elvis impersonation gigs at Movieland. Not quite the expert he was making himself out to be. Nice attempt at I AM VEREY SMART though.
I can't believe you're drunk every night!

It’s terrifying how so many are guided by these idiotic things, anyone that gets their news from Facebook is an idiot anyway.

Been reading a thread on the Newcastle Chronicle site whereby there's an awful lot of people disputing cause of death and saying the Drs are putting covid on the death certificate because it means less paperwork and the hospitals are being financially incentivised to do so

A good friend of mine is a Dr on a covid ward and I'm enjoying him make them look very silly. There's lots of "well my sister's friend knows a porter and he says that he's seen death certificates that have been filled in wrongly and he should know cos he works at the hospital"

It makes me wonder why we even have highly qualified and well trained medics, because there is an abundance of experts out there whose medical expertise is selling half a dozen bath bombs on Facebook

As has been said, there's a number of 'Karens' who seem to be privy to data and research even our top scientists and medical professionals are being kept in the dark about

The problem with this country is there are too many experts and not enough people using their common sense. People demand rules like sulky 12 year olds. Given that transmission levels are still seriously high why would you risk going out any more than is necessary. This Government's biggest mistake is trusting the general population to act sensibly. A significant proportion aren't and won't.
People need leadership, plain and simple. If they didn't, football teams wouldn't need managers. The country needs a decent manager.

Huge problem here.
They are using their version of 'Common Sense'. It is far away from mine, and most on here but it is surely legitimate as long as they socially distance.
You can't, (well you can) as Government have said, plead for people to use common sense then get upset when it is the 'wrong' sort.

I wouldn't be surprised if these unwitting idiots are being used as a tool to suppress the sensible discussion that needs to be had about lockdown.

It can easily be painted as 'look at these weird bellends' chuck in a couple of interviews with one saying 'its about the 5g maaaaan' and quickly you have a piece for the comics to mock people for and to tell us all that the only people complaining about the current situation should be taken off to the looney bin.
Infact I already saw some guy do one for Joe the other day.

There is loads of this stuff going around all very similar comments 'I know someone who died because of X but it has been put down as Covid'.
I mean - people are actually saying they have seen the death certificate and know Doctors are lying.

We need to stop clapping them on a Thursday and move to choruses of 'your just a bunch of lying bas tards'

The people who would go to these mass gatherings do not listen to anybody, changing the manager would not alter their thinking one iots.

1finny, people have to take responsibility for their actions, the government have been very poor in all this & have to be accouted to for this whole inept crisis that they've handled, but there are people who have disregarded safety, social distancing from the beginning, we're only as strong as the weakest link, which is our friends, neighbour, family, people who dont respect the rules that have to be adheared to are simply idiotic

On that, I will clap every thursday until told not to, I will go out there tonight & clap 'loud & proud' for my daughter & all who are putting themselves in the front line, not one of my thursday claps have been for the government
I'm sorry finny you feel like that, I speak to my daughter regularly, FaceTime, the closest we've spoken face to face is 6m & I'm so proud of her, not clapping & I'm not recognising what she & others are doing

ThFair86, you are the smartone (y)

My understanding was the legislation was to be reviewed every six months. Therefore it'll stand unless the review says it should go. This is much more dangerous than making legislation that lasts for 6 months, then expires and has to be re ratified.
Where has that come from ST? I looked back at the legislation last night, and saw nothing about 6 monthly reviews. Though, as I have said, I am no legal expert.

Erimus, finny doesn't feel like that, he is suggesting that others may feel that way, given some folks think the drs and nurses are lying.

As a self-confessed social distancing Nazi even I would wrestle idiots to the ground if they were suggesting that nurses are complicit in a great conspiracy. It's beyond insulting, but not surprising in the age of the internet.

Well having read the invite, anyone who is stupid enough to attend such an event must be one brain cell short of an amoeba. I can see the possible use for a Public Spaces Protection Orders and Dispersal Orders being issued here. It is all well and good saying peaceful, these things never are.

Anyone that goes should have their names and addresses taken by the police fined and be named and shamed so the decent people in our communities can see who amongst them to avoid. The organisers are reckless. The trouble is, it‘ll be like what I call ‘idiotic dangerous driver syndrome‘, frequently the innocent they subsequently come into contact with will probably end up worse off.

We will be back in lockdown before you know it at this rate. I may not like or agree with this Government but I would trust it before I would trust these reckless stupid organisers of such events. The sooner we let the Government do what they feel is right, the sooner we will be on the right path to some form of normality, to do anything else is pointless.

Afterwards, we can eventually pass verdict on the Government handling via the polls. The best way to keep safe is to just do what we are being asked to do. The economy has to start somewhere, yes the Government needs to do more, but we all need to take personal responsibility to do our bit Where we can, whilst keeping as safe as we can and call out those that don’t or report them if it is warranted. It is all we realistically can do for the time being imho. Above all, we need to respect the welfare and well being of others, as well as ourselves and our own loved ones.

Erimus - bit of cross purposes here fella.
I'm in awe of what our medical teams are doing.
My point, clearly badly made, was those spreading nonsense on Twitter who, in effect, are having a go at the very people we should be celebrating.

I treat social media like I do a visit to the zoo, it is interesting to look at and amusing in small doses but I don’t really get involved.

Thanks for that finny👍

Have you been out cycling lately, 3 of the past 4 days, 30 mile's each ride, no photos today mind, not in your league of distance, or probably speed for that matter, but enjoy it

I'll be out tomorrow Erimus - need a long one. It's been one of those weeks and I'm knackered.
Very envious of you cycling around Teesside.
