Michael carrick into 6/1 second fav

Suppose with Phelan it's whether he harbours ambition to be a manager rather than coach, or he thinks the likes of Boro would be a step down. Definitely wouldn't say no to him being Carrick's No 2.
He had a couple of months at Hull and was found wanting wasn't he? You would think at his age he'd have pushed for it if he wanted it.

I suppose it is a definite step down and would probably be a move away from his roots too you'd think? But he might fancy one last challenge alongside a young manager to sign off his career with.

Our best managers have been rookies. Anderson, Charlton, Rioch, Robson, McClaren, Karanka.

And so have our worst. Southgate & Woodgate.

McClaren & Karanka (just off the top of my head) weren't really rookies either - they were No 2 to a couple of the best managers in ELP history. Who is Carrick No 2 to atm?

We've had poor managers with experience too, Strachan, Pulis, and Wilder to name three, and Warnock after his initial rescue didn't do a great deal.

It's a gamble but the rookies have done better for us than experienced managers in general.

Carrick was Coach under the same top Manager as Karanka to be fair.

Someone on OneBoro saying they've heard its Carrick and someone else saying Chris Armas was at Rockcliffe ladst week, so the two things tend to support each other.
