Muniz may not be going to Fulham?

I don’t get the “well if he doesn’t want to come to us first then sod him” argument as let’s be honest no one knows how transfers happen so you no have idea who wanted to come or not.

I have no issue with wether we were first or second etc as what do you expect that he had a poster of Bernie on his wall as a kid. Of course not.

if warnock wants him and we can get him then that’s fine with me.

Agree with this. Let's face it to footballers it's a job and he might well have a couple of different job offers on the table and a decision to make (he also might not as we don't know how far down the line talks got with us, Fulham or Timbuktu Athletic).

Like all major decisions in life you might take a bit of time to ensure you make the right decision for you and your family. You might be swaying one way at one point, but equally could change your mind and do something completely different later.

The decision is not final until the deal is signed and any reports on twitter are likely to be half truths, opinions and title tattle and might not reflect the reality. If he comes great, if not, we move on. There's usually a lot of complicated factors at play in a decision like this it might not just come down to money or the perceived ambition of the clubs concerned.

The issue is sometimes that a player won't settle if it wasn't really their first choice club. That could lead to poor form because they don't want to be here or their agent constantly looking to find the player an exit like what happened with Braithwaite.
Surely that's a risk with any young lad moving to another country. A decision like this should be based on the project that you are buying into and your career, as much as anything else. If we setup an environment that works for him at this stage of his career he'd play here no doubt, although I suspect he would always look at us as a stepping stone club....but that's where we are right now, we are not a desirable place for many players to move to. But that can also be said of Fulham, Norwich, Brentford, West Brom, Derby, Southampton etc. No young lad dreams of playing for these clubs except locals.

Yes that's a risk with any player. But the more hesitant they are to join the bigger the risk becomes.

If transfer fees are being discussed it has nothing to do with the player. That's the club and the agent.

If he comes he comes, it's not my money the club are spending, if he goes elsewhere so be it.

Huge move for him at a tender age, I'm sure he would want to ponder the move. He'll know very little about us or Fulham. Plus we don't know the ins-and-outs of the negotiations with Flamengo and if it's them making this complex or him or his negotiators.

Am I missing something here? I read an article somewhere last night that said Fulham had found out they were paying a higher transfer fee than had previously been agreed with Boro. They were therefore trying to re-negotiate the transfer price. Nothing to do with us being back in for him.

Wishful thinking, perhaps?

I’ve heard he’s actually a die hard Port Vale supporter.

He’s isolating with coronavirus. Deal all agreed just waiting Fulham to send final documents. Clearly he can’t have a medical yet so it’ll be a wait for that then he’s signed. Read that Evergrandes article on it. So it’s dead in the water for us. Move on.

It's a no from me. The whole thing just seems very complicated and it's not like it's a bargain. The best part of 7mil and the fact they want a 50% sell on clause.... Christ🙄. I've never heard of such a sell on.

I also don't think he particularly cares where he ends up. Probably the one that pays most for him and his agent. I know it happens with most players but I'd prefer he was saying 'I want to sign for Boro' etc. I doubt he knows who us or Fulham are.

I think the most likely state of play is that Fulham are getting cold feet, maybe at the fee, maybe at him having Covid and any chance of long covid, maybe they have positive news on alternative CF targets. Fulham trying to delay, and maybe leverage a better deal financially for them.

Flamengo not happy, thinking a n agreement had been reached and are now trying to put pressure on Fulham to complete the deal as is, or they'll re-open negotiations with anyone who is interested.

I think the only time I can remember we've came out on tops against a bigger club wth a tug of war transfer was when we unfortunately signed Peter Davenport away from Villas clutches, if only we'd have lost that one we could have avoided relegation

Don't forget Boro vs Arsenal for Juninho. 💪

That tweet claims that it's Fulham holding up the deal. Translates as:

"After agreeing terms and conditions with Flamengo, Fulham have not sent the final paperwork and have delayed the end of the deal for Rodrigo Muniz."
cold feet? pushing for a different deal now they think they have seen us off? or just caution due to him having covid?

Some new claims flying around on twitter that we've upped our bid. Sources s seem pretty reliable although I'm not a twitter aficionado!
