Not too interested in names, just trying to get a feel on the numbers.

How many of the current squad would make your starting XI, that you'd be absolutely happy / confident with for an upper play-off, cheeky autos push next season?
 
I think it should be about the same every season; should always be about half and half existing and new. Otherwise you don't move forward.

Sorry for the rather trite answer this morning but I do think that pretty much ever position is up for review.

As no one really excelled with poss exception of howson so realistically I’d say howson fry McNair tav Jones then you’d be struggling.

So prob 5.

Crooks would be 6 but is wilder convinced I’m not so sure.

It's a tricky one.. I think Howson might be off. Late contract offer, nothing taken up yet. Feels a bit like the George Friend situation.

Fry and Tavernier are both going into their last years and can't see them leaving on free transfers.. so they might be out too.

Wilder said he would ideally have McNair in the righthand side of a back three.. so he's in there.

Payero looks special and still hold high hopes for him making a big impact next season. Hopefully he can avoid injuries and have a good run.

2 QTY GOALKEEPERS
1 QTY CENTRAL DEFENDER (two if Fry leaves)
2 QTY LEFT SIDED DEFENDERS
1 QTY RIGHT WING BACK
3 QTY MIDFIELDERS (we're strong in midfield, but if Howson is off an Tavernier gets a prem move 3 will be about right.. maybe two)
2 QTY LEFT WINGBACKS
3 QTY STRIKERS

13/14 players with eight or nine players staying

We could easy see 11 new players coming in this summer.. I'm thinking Joe Gibson could be in the mix and maybe a few more

Would you have access to how many players we've signed each summer window for the last four or five years Newy?
 
Dijksteel-Fry-McNair -- this will be broken up next season, it lacks leadership and strength it's too easily bullied and lacks a left footer. So at least 1 will drop out, possibly 2.

GK, LWB and 2 CFs goes without saying

So that's 6 new starters.

Another midfielder is also likely so 7 new starters, and 4 remaining from this season
